1844 or 1838 would be my vote. If you aren't ever going to want to go bigger for some reason I agree that a 1644 would be ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I vote along with the last two posts. 1838/1844 is better! Even though, as you stated, you don't hunt out of the boat, it will perform better, carry a bigger load, and in the event you have to hunt out of it, you can hunt three out of it. |

I also have a 23 Swomp and a 1542 F&F hull to put it on. Haven't gotten to work on the F&F as it's a little rough right now. What kind of performance downgrades does a 15' hull exhibit that a 17-18' hull of comparable beam not? |

Went from a 14x42 to a 16x44 with a 16hp GDLT. Speeds were better, load carrying better, even in mud it was better. Up to a certain point length is better, but where that stops and starts is the big question. But I would go with a 18 x (38-44) just for the extra room. IMO |

A longer boat runs flatter and drafts less water. When I bought my long tail I asked the exact same question and got the same recommendation. I went with a 1644 instead of an 1844 and I regretted it almost immediately. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Problem is, I don't see a whole lot of long/skinny 0.100 cross-stringer hulls out there. Go to a 16-18' boat, it's hard to find less than a 48" beam mass produced. |

Where are you at? Are you wanting a new or used boat? You don't want a boat with horizontal bracing anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
