I am looking at a used 2004 27HP LT that is in my budget for this year($2000). I am planning to run it on a 1655. With two adults dog and gear how much of a dog will this be?

$2k for a 13 year old long tail is kinda high, imo.
Also, I thought it was 29hp Kawasaki motors that were on the long tail?
In regards to your question, considering everything runs fine and you have a good prop, you should see 16-19 mph with that load.

The 27 is a carbed version of the 29 (which is efi), Bryce. They used them early on those frames, as well as the hd.

How many hours? That does seem a bit high, but it's a good frame and a very good engine (in my skewed opinion).

Bryce is right on with speeds, and those are reasonable with a longtail. You might see 20 if it's not a heavy boat. Making sure it has the right prop is your biggest experiment. It'll probably like the 9x7, but may do better with a 9x6 with that load. You'll just have to try it and see.

Thanks Guys for the info. That is cheap for up here in WI. It sold before he even responded to my call.

My suggestion is to save more money or finance a new Backwater EFI longtail.

You're only $1,350 away from having a brand new 23 SWOMP Lite. I know $1,350 isn't a small amount of money, but if you could swing it, I believe you'd be happier going that route.

That kawa is a better engine than the Briggs and mudbuddy is a proven longtail frame. Not a thing wrong with backwater, but if it's between those 2 options, the engine matters far more to me than the frame, and it's cheaper.

There is a reason they stopped that design. The 29 was GARBAGE ! Consider yourself lucky. Wait and find a GO Devil long tail .

Kawa hasn't stopped that design. The reason mudbuddy stopped using them is the 35hp from Briggs made it's debut. No reason to pay the extra to kawasaki when kawa didn't want to be in the mudmotor market, and Briggs did
