i know its been beat to death, and i have time to decide but PPF - Stump jumper - Backwater.
For my refuge runner. All about the same price. All seem like quality construction. 6.5HP

Out of those 3 choices you listed
It’s obvious which one has “quality construction”

I guess I'm just partial to my go devil because I've had it for 8 years and bought it used. No idea how many hours are on it, but it is one of the old galvanized frames. Never a lick of trouble and it has been used and abused. During season when we hunt the WMAs, we running twice a day 2 and 3 weeks in a row, never any trouble. Not sure what size bait your running. My little ouchita is only 225 lbs without floors.

No complaints about Backwater or SPS (swamp runner), have no opinion of others, just giving feedback to what I've seen/used.

Yeah, I've heard all those are pretty good too. The only LT I've ever ran is a go devil, so it's the only one I really have any honest input on.

Backwater is gonna be tough to beat. If you have any doubts about their product, call them at their shop and they'll answer any questions you might have. I'll also tell you something I just recently found out... the driveshaft in the PPF is actually hollow. That's why they're one of the lightest options. I'd prefer the extra weight if it meant I had a solid driveshaft.

Yeah it has been discussed before...I've had GD, MB, and now BW. I am sure BT made a quality product, can't opinion on the import kits, and all three mfg.'s I ran were solid. BW, IMO, has the new paradigm with their lite frame (no U-joint) for their bigger block motors. and all the field reports on their kits have been favorable. Customer service top notch and best prices on props. I have not regretted the purchase of my 26.5 efi at all- hope to replace the 1648 grizzly hull with a true flat some day.

Where are you located? PPF and BW are within about an hour of each other. Both will let you run a demo motor on your boat. Give them a call. If you are sticking to the ~6 HP range both will last as long as you do the maintenance .

Keep in mind some guys here have never seen one of these motors in person yet are experts.
