Was wondering what the speed should be about on a Lowe 16x48 with a 27beavertail? Love the boat but the motor I am not to inpressed with. This is my first time with a mud motor and is nothing to what I thought it would be, its worse. Was playing in some back water off the river today and was in about a 1ft to 1.5ft of water and there was some grass in there. Went in it and got stuck. This is what this is made for. Had some other issues with the motor and told beavertail any more and i want a different one. |

u wont get good speeds with a long tail .. as far as the grass u just need more stick time ... u need to learn how to run it they can be a handful to run but once u get the hang of it then its a piece of cake just play with it some more ... |

Your LT wont be a speed demon by any means, around 20-22 mph with light load then down from there. Its like a 4x4 truck. LT's are 4 low SD are 4 high. |

With a 27 on a 1644 I get 21 unloaded. With more stick time it will amaze you each time you take it out. |

If you got stuck in a foot of water wit grass, damn dude thats bad. Like they said, wit a lil stick time youll come to like it. I have a GTR now and there are places I go where I sometimes wish I still had my long tail. I had a 23hp and got 21mph. Once ya get some time under ya belt, those things will go wherever ya want to. |

X3 on stick time... Where are you located? I would try to find some guys who run these things and go out with them and let them show you a few things. Go on one of the runs... Good luck with it, and in time think you will be real happy you made the switch. I know I am... |

I to wish i had my LT23 sometimes cause that thang was unstopable i swear. I too averaged around 21-22mph by myself. and with a load didn't do to much worse that that. Loved my long tail. |

A balanced boat, side to side, makes all the difference in the world, too. If it isn't balanced you will be fighting the motor the whole time. |

The skeg is the fin below the prop. Bend it just a little on the trailing edge the opposite direction from which the motor is pulling. Just bend a little at a time til ya get it right. |
