If a longtail was geared down like a surface drive, would you have the higher speed and torque.and possibly even run a larger prop. yet still be able to run in the spots only a long tail will go. has anyone tried this or is this a dumb idea.

I know that scavengers are geared down slightly, but why not any others. is there issues with handling or issues with higher hp motors and the longtail setup?

I have a hard time believing that a geared down long shaft would have any more torgue than they all ready do? More prop speed, I could believe that. But how much friggin torgue does a person need? What would be the advantage, d by doing this?
