 opinions please
Got a new 1850 a couple months ago and now that hunting season is coming to an end, im starting to look forward to fishing. I need to get me a new trolling motor. What would you guys recommend as far as manufacturer and thrust?

 Re: opinions please
Busta, I think you are safe with any thrust over 40 on that boat. You must remember. The bigger motor, the more battery usage.

 Re: opinions please
Get the largest 12v you can find. I run a 55# minkota.

 Re: opinions please
I have an minn kota 55# thrust it has a long shaft and is 12v. It has lots of power and very durable. I have it on an 18x54 extreme and does very well. I love it, it is strong enough to power though veggies and does well with high winds and strong current. I also love it because it has the weedless wedge to prop so therefore it eats through and slings off the grass. I have one recommendation if you go with the 55lb thrust get the biggest battery you can and it will run all day or night.

 Re: opinions please
Brooks,, you can seach the www. and find some deals if you can get free shipping.. I got mine from the local Gander Mountain.. At that time Minn Kota had a mail in rebate.. Depending on what model you get, they make a detachable bracket. Well worth the extra money for the bracket....

 Re: opinions please
if you fish from sun up to sun down i would put a 24volt system on it. If you normally make short trips 12volt is fine.
