I wish woman would get over guys hunting all the time. If it aint ( HUNTING SEASON ) then its her time all the time. If it is out of hunting season and i fish tournaments all the time or go frog giggin every weekend she gets the red as. I dont know how many people go through this. But i do. i mean she puts up with it but damn dont hold it over my head all the time

i basically told mine (girlfriend) that i will be gone every weekend from opening day in Nov till closing day in Jan. She does got with me sometimes.... just tell her how it is.... i know it isn't that easy when married and if ya got kids its even more difficult.... she has my time for the other 9 months out of the year... tell her that... give me 3 months and you get the majority of the other 9.. hahaha

Ask her if she'd like a nice animal rights guy who doesn't hunt. The kind that takes his car to get the oil changed, and has to hire somebody to fix something for him all the time. Then he could spend all his time at home making green tea and pruning his flowers, and hide behind her when somebody gets shitty, and whine about everything.


Tell her that's what comes with being a MAN. Lucky it's 2010, where we do it occassionally for recreation, instead of constantly for survival.

Mine used to nag some then I told her

"Hunny I gotta go -- the deer/ducks/hogs are gettin away -- can we continue this when I get home?"


When I get home she would say something and Id tell her Im home now she should be happy Im not out fucking someone else.

She dosent mention my hunting much since then == about half way thru the season she asks if she can have a weekend since I do hunt a lot during the week --- I give it to her -- its all good

LOL This post rocks. I came from a hunting family. Wives have been dealing with it for years. I had my wife talk to my aunt. She showed up and the wreath on the door read "We interupt this marriage to bring you the hunting season". My aunt set her straight. Know its just a regular seasonal event.

stay single like me! then you never gota put up with it!! . . . and you will have alot more money to ummm . . take huntin trips, buy more huntin stuff!!

When it comes to my wife I have no problem with hunting and frogging ( except for that time when she was pregnant for my youngest girl 7.5 months and having steady contractions and I cought 30+ frogs and lost my phone then got stuck and had to wait for someone to come from Cankton to PI to pull me out... she kinda held a grudge on that one) but fishing is another matter. I try to tell her she's the cheapest baby sitter, but she insist that she wants to go. SO in conclusion I hunt and frog all I want and she fishes / crabs / shrimps with me 90% of the time. Works out pretty good actually, but I told her b4 we even considered getting serious that if she didn't like it that it wasn't going to work.

This is a good thread and some of you reading should take it seriously.

If you really; I mean really like to hunt and fish alot, and you have a girlfriend that is giving you a hard time, then the both of you need some work to come to a full understanding of expectations. If not; I would go find another.

My wife got the full effect when we dated for 4 years. Between ducks and deer, sometimes I wouldn't see her 'til Sunday night, and I was pretty tired by then. But I made it clear, this is what I do; expect nothing less. I hunt and fish when I want. Her only rules; and she put that in while we dated; no hunting on Thanksgiving day and Christmas. I honor that request always.

Outside of hunting season, and even during hutning season, I take good care of all our stuff, and the house and yard stay in top shape; so she has zero to complain about there.

my dam gf wants me to go to galveston for the weekend.. no big deal if it wasn't the weekend my new gtr was coming in.. i've been waitin weeks and months to get this and she decides she wants to go a week ago .. and i'm the selfish one for doing what i wanna do ..

Come on guys. Act like men. Tell the wife or girlfriend that you will go hunting, frogging or fishing anytime you want to go or can afford to go. You are not doing anything wrong like going to a Hoe house or something. Take control of your life.

BOYS, BOYS, BOYS!! I have been with my wife for 15 years. THe fisrt 8 of those years we were dating. I grew up hunting and fishing and playing ball. I still do all of these today. I hunt, I fish, and I play softball 3 or 4 nights a week. We ALL are gonna catch some $hit at some point, thats life, thats women! Make time for your Ole' Lady and you catch less flack for all the other $hit later.

Had one of my best hunts Thanks giving Morn about 7 years ago. They were waitin for me to say grace b4 eatin. That was our 1st one together.

Told my wife before we got married that "All women are crazy, I accept that and I accept the level of crazy you are now but...NO NEW CRAZY" Told her I wasn't going to change either, and I didn't. Ten years April and she didn't flip out when I told her if BP closes the season around here me and the dog are headed for Canada and hunt our way back home.

Been with my wife for 15 years and been married for 12 of em. She never really complained about it other than the fact of her wanting to come with me. A few years ago, I brought her in the stand with me for her first time. We watched a few deer and then I shot one. She loved it and I enjoyed seeing her see all of this for her first time. Now, I make a couple hunts by myself or wit da guys in the beginning of the season, then I bring the wife or one of my daughters wit me. Thats what makes it for me. Ive done this for 33 years so its nothing new, but to see my daughters or my wifes face when a deer comes out, thats awesome. Plus my ole lady is pretty cool to shoot da shit with in the stand. And she got her own guns and shit so she dont have to touch mine. Whats mines is mines and whats hers is mines.

well dont know anything about married life with me but my mom went deer huntin the first time with my dad and here comes a strong wind and the box stand fell over and she hasnt stepped foot in another stand!
