Post Seen a nice
Gatortail on Sunday. Hull was 18' ish CC, front deck. Sadly it had LDWF markings all over it with 2 GWs in it. The meeting didn't go well. Lost all our pouldeu and got ticketed for running birds. We actually were running upwind and drifting into them. But for some reason, when we were still going forward, birds were spooking up and we'd shoot at them. However those weren't the birds we were after. Seems I shouldn't shoot at birds flying in my path of motion.
My brother and cousin in his boat also got busted. Heard that ticketed ALOT of people in Lake Bouef this past weekend for many different things. From over possesion to unplugged guns. They even had someone's gun that they took.

Could have been worse.

Yes it does. Even my son got ticketed @ 16.

Just remember that even though your motor is off and going forward, it's still illegal. You must come to a complete stop. Kinda hard with my motor. I have no reverse.
Funny thing is what do you do when moving down wind?

Is it just motorized boats? Can you do this from a pirogue? I have floated down a slough and shot wood ducks many times. I guess I need to go back and read the regs. again.

That is one of the things that i wish people would understand is that people running the coots in that lake are messing up the great duck hunting that lake beouf has to offer. I never did understand why people get out of the blinds to creep up on coots, my opinion is that if they fly over your blind then shoot them if not then try another day, that lake has some of the best duck hunting around but people keep running the coots and scare all of the duck away. Im feel bad that you got a ticket for what you were doing but it will take the Game Wardens to patrol that lake so the duck hunting could get good again.

also not sure if your gun was loaded or not but its not supposed to be while the engine is running or again in your case making forward progression from turning off your motor.

We got a hot shot new Federal boy here, so far he's done a full check on us twice, gone through our shell boxes, checked our guns, etc. Cost us birds the first time. He's gonna get some complaints filed if he checks us again, he's got better sht he can be doing besides harrassing the same people every saturday at primetime.

I had my federal duck stamp go missing from my glovebox, I have suspicions on a trifling little sht that's got a grudge on me, but the warden cut me no slack, $175 ticket.

They tried to check us once in a 20 foot cape horn looking thing they were stuck like a mother in that pond. I did see the feds raid a baited pond once from a short distance, they came in with a heli and like 8 air boat, would have thought there were looking for a drug runner or something.

It seems they pick and choose who they want to stop. If they would have been at the launch that morning, over 1/2 of the hunters would have never made it to the blinds. No running lights, many not wearing lifejackets, boats overloaded with too many people. Then we get to the lake about 45mins before sunrise and everyone is already shooting.
It's very convient that they hit the lake later in the day after the mass confusion.
