So today i was cleaning the gun of the girl i hunt with, and found a small problem. The gun will shoot in both the safty and fire positions. I have been around guns my whole life and never seen this happen. This gun is a brand new remington 870 20gauge. I was cleaning it and finished and pulled the trigger in safty and pop the firing pin fell. Tried it in fire, same thing again. Any of yal ever seen this?

O crap! I just bought my 2 boys one for xmas. Its already wrapped but ima unwrap it to see if it does the same. That is definitly not safe.

I was watching somethong on tv about the rem 700 saftys not working and i check hers and sure enough, my ol man didnt believe me seeng how he is a remington die hard till he checked it. Im thinking it has to be those child safty locks on the new ones that are messing up.

My uncle and I just had a conversation about them. Seems there was a design flaw of some kind and some do that.

Please send some of those guns to Grand Cheniere for that big duck hunt that Jindal is having on Monday and Tuesday.

I wish remington is giving me the run around.

I know a lobbyist for the NRA, he says Remington knows about the problem with the 870 and 700, but are refusing to admit fault and make a recall. Apparently the 700 is having lots of accidental discharges that are killing people.

Tell ya'lls what ~ I was puttin' the lurk on another www. site and seems as if a 19 year old was settin' some plugs out fo some younger folks and a shot was fired from the blind. Shot him in the face knockin' out teeth and looks like he is gonna loose his right eye .....

If its got wheels, tits or a safety it can kill a man..... Good thang you found it before you or the girl got hurt..... Safeties are mechanical, anything mechanical can fail..... Poker is dead on the money with what he said.... But I will add this..... Guns dont kill people, husbands that come home early kill people.....

if anyone wants to learn more about the rem. 700 safety failure its called remington under fire. its all about the guy who invented the trigger design in the 40's and wanted to change it but remington said it would cost too much at $5 per gun. saw it the other day on t.v. pretty scary especially thati just bought a 30-06 rem 770 and ride around in the boat with it loaded.

I check my gun every time i get it out the safe, i was just cleaning hers for her and happen to find this problem. I hunt with her for that very reason, she is safer then any guy i know and im not getting shot over a duck again any time soon. I made the mistake for always trusting the safties and never checking them. Never do that again.
