tacmc6 the thing about whooping yo kids ass now days is the fact, that the law wants to stick they noise in it and get a parent for abuse or endangerment.. I agree, nothing like a ass whooping when its called for, but then you get the knock at the door and some jackass with a badge is asking you to step outside..... Its 6 one way, half a dozen the other.... Damned if you do, Damned if you dont....

I'm just as guilty as the next dad when it comes to yelling at one's son for what we perceive as bad behavior or bad judgment, more often than not the result of immaturity, youthful stupidity. Taking away my son's gun and truck keys are just as effective for me. If I tried beating him with a belt, he'd wrestle me into submission after the first attempt. The youth of my generation were all beaten with belts. Mine was what we called a "razor strap", which came from my grandfather's barbershop and was used to sharpen razors. It was about 3 inches wide and 3 feet long. My mother and father knew how to use it on us, too. She kept it hung in a very conspicuous and easily accessible spot in the living room. If you're under 30 years old you don't know anything about any of this. Teachers in school would beat the crap out of us, and we deserved every lick.

First of all i would never disrespect my dad, Love my parents to much to disrespect them, hell they brought me into this world, they sure as hell can take me out of it, thats what my dad always told me and it was enough!

What I consider worthy of discipline for my son, would not even be considered bad at all. Just trying to make him a better man.

I've been a police officer for 22 years in South Louisiana and I have not put anyone in jail for putting a good old ass whipping on a child. I have put a dad in jail for BEATING his child with a electricial wire and putting cuts in his skin. Im talking deep enough to need stitches. Here if you just whip that ass you are PERFECTLY ok. So if that jackass with the badge comes knocking just tell them you whipped that ass in South Louisiana and they deserved it.

You all talk about not going up against your dads. Me it was my mom. Dad worked alot. Mom would knock the F out of us. I once raised my hand to hit my mom in an argument when I was 12ish. She swung and lit my ass up. Punched me trhough the kitchen, through the dining room and into the living room. Forgot to add, she had a 3/4 cast on her arm. That MFer hurt, let me tell you.

I whoop my kids ass. And they deserved everyone of them. Talking back too much, whack. Acting stupid and not listening, whack. But never once beat them for no reason.
Funny thing is with my daughter, all I have to do is raise my voice and she cries and knows I mean business. My son is 16 and thinks he can take me because he's taller than me. But let me tell you, I'll tear him a new one if he crosses the line.

Even after all that I was stunned the other day when he came home with his HS schedule for the rest of the year. MoFo is taking calculus and trig. WTF. I guess I said something recently that made him start thinking about the rest of his life and not the shitheads at his school he calls friends.

i commented earlier that I thought our comments were being monitored and censored. I think I figured out what was going on...no censorship. When one enters a reply post, or maybe try to edit one and subsequent posts appear which you may not have reviewed and which might affect your response, you are redirected to review the posts if you want and then submit your comment. Well, things heated up quickly on this thread and posts were put up in rapid succession so that every time I tried to submit mine, I was asked if I wanted to review the interim posts. In hindsight, I'm glad they never saw the light of day. I think in stead of a "submit" button, we all need a "park-it- somewhere-for-further-review-when-I'm-not-pizzed-off-anymore" button.
