 True Grit ...
It's a "must see" type movie !!! I don't go to the walk-in picture show very often ... 'bout once every three years .... Yesterday we all decided it was time .... Wife, Daughter, and the Grandest Daughter went to the YogyBear and me, son, and the son-in-law went to the True Grit make-over. Don't Miss It !!!

Plan on seeing it soon. Better than the original you think?

 Re: True Grit ...
Thanks, I was worried about modern filmaking running a true classsic. Girlfriends parents bought her a giftcard for the movies, I think I'll let her treat me for once.

 Re: True Grit ...
Better than the duke!? No I will however say this the new one included more of the book the movies ae based on. Still it was a good show! As stated it's a compliment to the Dukes.

 Re: True Grit ...
I never saw the original, but I went last night to see the new remake and I thought it was a good movie. I have never been a John Wayne fan so I have never saw any of his movies so when I do watch the old one I may be dissapointed with the new remake. I do wish Hollywood would make more western movies tho.

 Re: True Grit ...
Went to see last night, finally. must say i was impressed with the directors and the guy who played Rooster. He didnt try to be John Wayne and played the part to his style.

 Re: True Grit ...
It was a good movie. Glad they changed it up enough to make it its own film.

 Re: True Grit ...
it was a good movie and i think it complimented the original well. but it is not one of those movies that i would watch a second time if it was to come on TV.

 Re: True Grit ...
In modern Western movie catagory Tombstone is still number one in my book. True Grit is second, Lonesome Dove Third, Open Range fourth.

 Re: True Grit ...
You want to see a great John Wayne cowboy movie, get your hand on "The Cowboys". It is the one where the Duke's character gets killed by a villain very well played by Bruce Dern.
I am also a big fan of Silverado and 3:15 to Yuma. See both if you have not already seen them.
I thought the remake of True Grit was a great film. Jeff Bridges deserves an Oscar nod...not that he will get it after taking the Best Actor Oscar just last year. I am a big fan of the Coen Bros. It was cool to see them spread their wings and do a movie more or less "straight" without their trademark satire and dark comedic leanings.

I like the good, the bad, and the ugly.
My grandad was into westerns, I remember watching that with him when I was little.
