 Camp Ideas.
So I but the buy on some land today in north mississippi from my uncle for really cheap. I need some camp ideas. Im going back and forth between a fema trailer, and a wooden built camp. Any ideas yal have on size and all would be great. I know a bunch of people on here have camp of their own, and just looking for some info on designs and things yal built ino them.

 Re: Camp Ideas.
Put a vent in the top so it can breathe. I had major mildew problems before I put the vent in and now no mildew. Also, add a backdoor. I didn't and to go to the back porch, I gotta walk around mine. Use wood instead of drywall if your gonna leave it without air conditioning. Check to see if you're in a flood plain and if you are put it on beams. Have a covered area in front so that when your takin your muddy chit off, you can hang it up without it getting rained on. Thats about it or at least the stuff I ran into when building mine.

first off, you are always going to end up needing more beds, second, you will wish you had a larger covered porch and more storage space. here is a pic of my place. http://i677.photobucket.com/albums/vv13 ... ecabin.jpg

As for what J asked no to the meth lab i dont think. I love how that camp looks man thats great. Im thinking I will be sleeping 4 to 5 people at most, its me and a buddy that put the money together to get the wood. Im going back and forth between using sheetrock and air condition. Did you insulate it or what.

 Re: Camp Ideas.
MD, check out http://www.derksenbuildings.com/treated_buildings.php . They have a lofted cabin that won't set you back much. Something quick and cheap. If you planning to build something more permanant, I wouldn't dump too much money on the temp setup. Maybe find an older TT with slideouts or something.

 Re: Camp Ideas.
Im going to be in college in a year and im wanting to build this near Ms State so I have a place to store the guns and 4 wheeler and duck boat. Im thinking like 20 deep by 24 foot wide. I know ill have at least two bunks and Im thinking everyone else can just hit the floor since they aint shelling out any money for it. The problems im running into are, power, water, and like they said either drywall or just seeing studs or just putting plywood over it. Like I said any advice would be great, hoping to start putting the poles in the ground as soon as school lets out for mardi gras.

 Re: Camp Ideas.
We have a camp sitting in the Ouchita River, its an old ahern building with a frame and barrels underneath. The building is 20x40 with a bunkroom on one end closed off and stays warm eaiser. It has 4 sets of triple bunks so it sleeps 12.
The rest of the camp is open with couches and chairs except for a small kitchen. The inside walls are rough cut willow lumber.
There is a generator shed on one end of the camp with the exhaust pipe leading into the water. (Quiet) And a 20x20 covered deck and fire pit on the other end ( the deck really makes the camp.)

 Re: Camp Ideas.
Get what ever you need cut out of rough cut lumber. And if you supply the timber most saw mills will cut it on the halfs. So you won't have nothing invested except a dozen or so trees. We built a camp house like that one time. Ours was 24x40

 Re: Camp Ideas.
Aight got no good trees around there where ill be building, im sitting out in about the middle of 4,000 acres of duck fields. Lumber cost isnt whats scaring me now, its the sewer and water lines ill be needing. I do love the wind vane in that one pic.

My girl friends family has a trailer just like that one, just dosent have the second door on the back side i dont think, the saddle holders are like at an angle on the inside, with a big sleeper and either a 4 stall or 3 stall model.

 Re: Camp Ideas.
That's right . You always seem to run out of room. Got rid of that problem this year. 5 bed 3 bath Kitchen , Living , muck , dining , and a large barn. Now the lease.... As far as building you need to think of how much you are actually gonna be there. Is it just for deer huntin so on. I'm in PI and it's 24 7 365. I spend a lot of time there year round.

 Re: Camp Ideas.
Cool ideas so far, to keep this going lets get some info on the more complex parts on the off the grid camp! Lets get a lil deeper on things that make life easier.
Generator muffler in the water, nice.
This one probably isn't new but the shower water and sink water from a gutter that is tied into 500 gal holding tanks that are elevated. There are some camps that have these near robins camp he might be able to document with pictures and the liking(he might have one).
sureflow 12V pump for LED lighting and pump for water system, recharged by solar panel
Hot water grid of copper pipe(or if anyone knows of something that will hold the heat better ran on roof for several feet to hold 20 to 30 gallons of water.
Here is one that I saw recently a mobile home natural gas tank(it was about 4 feet long and 2 feet wide) they haul it in every year full to power heating supply for camp.
Please elaborate on these and any others ideas, the ones i listed are vague because I don't have a camp so i have never implemented them these are just eye witness encounters, but one can only hope for the day you finally have one.

 Re: Camp Ideas.
As far as water goes do a gutter on the roof and have it dump into a big plastic tank and when it rains you will have water storred up amd if you have a big enuf tank it will make it's own pressure with your fitting low on the tank and if you go this route I'd use a tin roof
As far as a sewer run it like normal into a septic tank cheep and easy

Ok guys, I got the land and now it's down to buying the materials and all. Where would I be okay using particle board and where should I be using plywood.

 Re: Camp Ideas.
you will build it just like a deck, but use 3/4 osb or other decking for the floor. frame the walls on the deck and stand them up. if your good and square you can sheet them on the deck first. osb is the material of choice anymore, but check the price. home depot had ac plywood cheaper then osb last time i was in there.

that can go right over the subfloor. if it were lanolumn or tile you would need an underlayment.

 Re: Camp Ideas.
You know in the old days there use to be barn raisings where the community would pitch in and help a family out by building a house or a barn. Small communities where everyone helped each other. I think the new community is like what MMT is today... An Internet social network. Why don't we all pitch in for a weekend or two after the season and help build this camp. I'll volunteer to organize the labor and tools.
