My buddy Sulli called me yesterday and said his boy (SR in high school) and some buddies were camping on the river and fishing for a few days. His boy got in trouble drinking a few months ago and he wanted to check up on him to make sure he wasn't into anything bad. Well, the conversation turned into how can we get these boys. He called one of the boys to see how the river was and heard girls giggling in the back ground. Was only supposed to be the 3 boys. I called a buddy that lives on the river road and he said he had seen some activity where we thought they were camped.
We drove down to the RR about an hour after dark. Parked the truck, slipped on camo, hit a little face paint since we're honkies and started walking. The field is a mile long to where they were camped. We could see two sets of lights. One was the tents and a mesh canopy. The other was in a little cut where people launch canoes. They were catfishing down in the hole. Fire going, girls giggling. Coyotes starting howling on the south side of the river. The boys howled back and one of them fired a .22 Decided I needed to keep that in mind.
Sulli and I crawled along the road and then split up. He took the high ground and the bottle rocket. He found a little low spot that offered cover to light the crackers and a berm in case someone got stupid with the 22. I slid down the hill and low crawled about 70 yards carrying a DeWALT radio with my iPOd on it. I was about 20 yards from them when I fired up the radio. Sulli saw the light on the ipod which was facing him and lit up the rockets. The intro to Pearl Jam's "Garden" ripped into the pitch black.
Apparently someone pulled the Chinese Fire Drill alarm in their camp. At first they yelled "Hey Hey HEYYY" and then when the music started they broke and ran like rabbits. They all ran for the Tahoe leaving the two girls to fend for themselves. They couldn't find the keys to the Tahoe and they were seriously panicking. Sulli hit em with the 2 bazillion CP spotlight and we gave them a couple of Rebel Yells in the dark. They froze. One boy got his flashlight right by me but never saw me.
Sulli's boy had the .22 and I decided that we needed to settle this thing down before something bad happened. I yelled out his name and I think that scared him worse than the bottle rockets. Finally we stood up and walked over.
They were visibly shaken you could see the adrenaline was still pumping pretty hard. They didn't have any beer or smokes. They had two black girls sitting with them

and one sorry ass 3lb catfish in a bucket they caught on bacon
I bet they didn't sleep a wink.
