I hold to my statement earlier but a few other details have came out since then. No body knows ya'll relationship and situation better than ya'll do, and remember love is blind, but I just thought I'd tell you a lil story about my cousin that may shed a lil light.

He was dating this girl who has a 3-4 year old lil girl. They dated for about 2 years and he grew very attached to the lil girl and like wise with the girl to him. Well momma ain't happy no more and breaks up. He was heart broken along with the lil girl but they still see each other all the time. Momma drops the lil girl off to stay with him on the weekend while she parties. She keeps him hangin on with the lil girl because she knows he is a great guy with a big heart and would make a good husband one day when she is ready to settle down.

And another thing, what ever happens in the future, never adopt the kid. Paper work will ruin you. You don't have to have it on paper to be a great dad. Thats just an insurance policy for momma, and the courts will always favor mamma if she is half decent at being mamma.

House, boat, 4wheeler, family heirloom guns. Went to work in the oilfield to make a better living for my family. Ex wife found out what i was making and decided to take her cut. A child is a woman's insurance policy that she can cash in on your ass at any time. Louisiana is famous for screwing the father in court. The only thing i got out of my divorce was my balls and my dignity. Its been two years but my life is starting to return to normal. Take the advice of those who have "been there". Think long and hard brother. Think like a chess player, always a couple of moves ahead. Your choice of which path to take in life is yours and yours alone. This tells me two things. One, she's not adult enough to handle this situation. Her parents will be chasing child support? That tells me she allows other people to fix things for her. Like you fixing this situation for her. Speaking from experience here, that shit don't fly far.
Second thing is, I bet you'll do the right thing. Work hard, take care of the baby, sell stuff, stay home, be a stand up mofo. He's out doing whatever and pissed cause he's gotta pay 18 years of monthlys for a short term thing. He's gonna be a daddy when it suits him and a dick when it doesn't. That will make things hard on you and the lady. Trust in this.

Like I said, IMO it takes a big man to do what youre doing. I was once young, and in love. You can see my situation now how that worked out! Personally, all the advice from everyone I know wasnt enough cause I knew what I wanted. Sometimes you gotta learn the hard way.

Your situation is a little different. If you want to be the kids "daddy" you need the father to be GONE. At the same time. I for one, If Im paying child support AT ALL, and decide I want to take my kid for the weekend, or whatever, you gonna have a hard time keeping me from it. In other words, either the father may still have ties, or dont even think of child support!!!

As some other have pointed out. Yall werent broken up very long, and she got pregnant for some other dude. That says a lot, but I understand, youre "in love" keep that thought for just a minuite.....
5 years down the road, she has an affair, or you cant handle the father wanting to see his kid since hes paying support, or you cant have what you want cause youre spending your earnings raising another mans kid, or....well you get the picture. Anyway, you cut out, or she leaves, either way yall bust up. Yall go to court for the divorce. Guess what, youve been raising this kid for 5 years, youre all the kid knows as dad. Now youre stuck paying child support for someone elses kid!!!!! Youre not gonna take that lying down, so you dont pay. Next thing you know, youre serving 90days in EBRP for contempt. Dont THINK it wont happen.

Its your decision, and I wont even try and tell you how to handle it, wont matter anyway, youre gonna do what youre gonna do. You didnt ask anyone here for advice, just stated whats going on.

IMO it does take a big man to take on that responsibility, at the same time, you gotta understand EVERYTHING youre overlooking.

My stepbrother adopted his first wife's son, and had another son and daughter with her. Fast forward 8 years later and Robin decided she had enough and left him for someone else, all the while leaving Mark with custody. The daughter became very ill and after the blood work comes back he finds that he isn't the biological father. Robin is a deadbeat mom, and usually Mark files for a warrant right before Christmas for back child support that way Robin can spend the Holidays sitting in the local lockup if they catch up to her. The father of the son is also the father of the daughter and doesn't pay a dime in support.

I don't know you Justin but I can tell you man your situation is not going to work out good. I've seen it over and over the good guy almost always get's screwed. I was in you place years ago and just finished paying 16 years of child support for being a nice guy. Don't get me wrong I love the boys (they were twins) but I often wonder how my life would have been different if I had not been the nice guy all those years ago...... I have to recommend to you that you RUN FAR and FAST FAST!

Well T your never really ready for a kid. Take it from me , I've got four. Can't imagine dealin with baby daddy drama. All that every other weekend crap. And the first time she/he don't get there way you here " You arn't my daddy" . Can really hurt. And bottom line you arn't there father.
