All the boat painter's say acid bath, to etch the aluminum before painting..... Alot of talk about AlumaBright.... ( and alot of companies out there make this stuff ) I have found Phophoric, Hydrofluoric and Muriatic Acid... What type of acid would y'all recommend? Or does it really matter? Confused as hell Earl33

im no pro at this but i used an acetone based cleaner that i got from work and it cleaned the hell out of my boat and semi-etched it. then primed and painted. this was a few months back and no problems. |

What ever you do wear thick gloves. The acid in alumbright will get under your nails and cause a very painfull feeling. Then they will go numb and by that time you end up in the ER and its to late. They will have to scrap out the build up under your nails. Saw two people in the ER with that and they said its like no pain they ever felt before. |

I'm using the pink coil cleaner for Airconditioning fins. Supposed to do the trick... do not get on skin!!!!!!

The will all work, but I have found da ones wit hydrofluoric acid works da best. |

owsley is the best......better get the blotters though because the ones on the pez are so good you can burn through a whole dispenser and if you got a clown face pez dispenser full of owsely acid you are in for one freaky ride. |

I got some muratic at lowes and i mix it up in a bucket and throw a handful of chlorine in it befor I mop it on .......better wear a mask though. |
