 Re: 40 Kohler
The kohler is a waaaayyy better built block. Why would you think the briggs is better? Not noticed all the cracked blocks and leaking case gaskets?

 Re: 40 Kohler
The parts are available, you just have to know where to look. Pretty much everything available on the briggs is available for the Kohlers. I have heard they do not respond quite as well to mods, but you're not gonna break em by modding them. And they do respond. The blocks are way stronger. The 27's are probably built stronger than the briggs 35/36's. I know the case gaskets use bigger bolts from the factory and there is more internal bracing (on the 27).

 Re: 40 Kohler
Ask Finn about a 40 Kohler. His neighbor that buildin the airboat swears by Kohlers. He bought a 40 for the one he's building now.

 Re: 40 Kohler
There is a fairly good selection of mod parts available for the Kohlers. There is even a few 27 pushing over 60hp out there also, although they are not on MMs.

 Re: 40 Kohler
I'd keep an eye on those generac's. See what kind of info you can get on them. They are built probably even better than the kohlers and are cheeaap. Good luck. I had no idea they are dropping the big block kohlers. You sure they quit making them? Or mb just isn't gonna use em?

 Re: 40 Kohler
They are still in production, they had issues and they were working on them for mud motor applications. It would be a great engine to throw on the frame but that mofo sits high on a GT frame.
