I got a 40lb thrust 12v trolling motor off of craigslist. What kind of battery is best for a trolling motor? Do I just nut up and pay for the optima deep cycle marine battery? Thanks for the help. |

After seeing what the Optima can hold up to , I bought one for my 40# Minn Kota and one for my 35GTR. |

Do you remember what you paid for 'em? I think everywhere I look they are about $250/each. Is that what I should expect to pay? |

I could have sworn Sam's has Optimas for 160ish. I could have looked at the wrong thing. |

I paid 180 a piece for both my optima's. I have the same trolling motor and after being left out in lake fishing. I bought the optima's and they are good so far. |

Battery follow up question. I currently have a duralast marine battery hooked up to my 23 GDSD. For some reason the positive post corrodes really easily. I take the positive cable off, clean the post, clean the cable, then hook it back up. The next day (after just leaving it in the garage for the night) I come out and theres some corrosion on it. What is causing this? The water level looks good. Other than that, I don't really know what to check. |
