Post subject:  Hands Free Car Kits

I'm looking for any input on hands free/Bluetooth car kits. Any specifics brands/models I should look at? I currently have a stock radio but don't have a problem upgrading to aftermarket if I need to. FWIW I have an Iphone if that matters?

Thanks in advance

How do I go about doing that. I use my auxiliary port everyday listening to music off my phone. I've noticed it will ring though the speakers but I've never been able to talk using it?

just when you call or receive a call put it on headphone mode and it will come through your speakers. but to me its not as clear

I have a Parrot in my dodge. it will automatically cut out the radio when you call. It is also voice activated after only pressing one button. its really clear and works very well when im pulling a trailer.

I have installed a bunch of the parrots. They work great. Only other option that really works well is a new head unit with the built in BT. Most of the H/U's are fine, I would look for one with an external mic if you decide to go that route.

shane, we used parrots in all of our big trucks, i was going to get one for my personal truck last year, but like stated.. i had an i phone and used the aux cord. however the call clarity wasnt that great.

i purchased a Pioneer double Din unit with bluetooth, i pod control, and XM ready. for 250. the call clarity is great, the microphone can be mounted wherever. like Stu said, if u dont want your pasenger to hear, u can switch to the phone itself very easily.

You can turn the parrot off if you have people in the car you don't want to listen to your conversations. But I've installed all the models. They all work about the same as far as the hands free goes. The higher models will have caller id, and give you access to the phone book, and voice activated calling, stuff like that. The lowest model is just basically accepts, and ends calls, no screen.

We are currently using parrots in our work trucks and they work well. They are kinda expensive though. Since our work trucks are XLT's and dont have anything but a radio, most guys now are going with a new head unit in their new trucks cause they are cheaper plus you get a CD player and an ipod jack. My new truck will be here in August and I am gonna give the new head unit a try. Also, if you are considering a booster to run with it, I have seen the Wilson brand ones work best. They are blue in color. I have a cell mate brand one in my truck and its definitly not as good as my co-workers Wilson.

Ill be the 9th to say go with a parrot.

My buddy has one in his truck and it works great. Its clear, plays over your stereo... No much to go wrong.

He also bought a signal booster to help with that western oklahoma crap cell service. But i dont know how well it works yet. I haven't ridden with him in the truck since i moved back home for the summer.

I know when i sold my last truck that had an AUX input the guy who bought my truck his phone worked in it.. He had to make sure the ringer volume was up before it was to be heard... Quality sucked and the person on the other end of the line heard a BIG ECHOOOO. Do it right Mang.
