As most of you guys know Im a LEO in Indiana. I have a farmer friend who was in dire need of help from a thief. My friends dad passed away and left him with a bunch of farming equipment. Not to mention alot of other stuff he gathered up over the years. Alot of nice attachemets. My friend works for a company and has been out of town working alot and has not kept an eye on his farm/equip. Well a couple weeks ago he comes home to find all the tractor weights gone, then all the backhoe buckets and then [insert truck load here] of equipment. It was obvious that the suspects were after the metal for scrap even though nothing was scrap metal. He had filed a bunch of theft reports before he bumped into me. We bumped into each other last week and he started telling me of all these thefts and how much he was getting ripped off. I took a theft report from him and told him to go get a digital deer camera. He went an got two digital cameras and calle me to set them up. The lane to the equip was faily wide so we pulled a bunch of old tree limbs over and necked the area down. The cameras was set up and the next day he calls and tells me there was fresh truck tracks back to the equip. We go and pull the camera memory card and put the card in my car computer. OH Yeah! The suspects were hitting his equip during the middle of the day. We got pics of the suspects coming and going. The best shot was of the empty truck coming in and the loaded truck going out. Full confessions later in the day. If your having problems with thefts or whatever don't forget the deer camera. When the case is cleared I will get a pic of the suspects and post for you guys to enjoy. Netman |

Randy, Are there deer cams that would take night pics without flash? I know in the case you stated above the thefts were going on in the daytime, but I was wondering the other day if a deer cam could catch night intruders without a flash going off. |

In my experience those cameras emit a red glow that game are not supposed to be able see. Humans can still see it. At least with the multri cams you could. We recommended this at one of our substations copper was being stolen on a regular basis, 2 days later we had pics and they were in cuffs. |

yeah it was a infrared type digital camera[bushnell $179.00]. The red is so faint you would have to be looking for it to see it. We thought they were hitting at night but low and behold it was a daytiime operation. When the case clears I will post a pic so you guys can see some BUSTED ass. |
