The guy that is selling that motor is a good buddy of mine, and I can tell you that cold weather starts or heat has never been and issue while running that motor. I don't get why everyone is quick to flip the comments out there.

I would say overall these motors had very little issues. No more than your typical long tail or SD. The ONLY reason these are not still into production today is due to liability law suits. To many waterheads out there were getting pitched out of thier boats cuz they couldn't hang on to 70 hp turning a prop 6 feet behind them. So the law suits started pouring in.

Could always mount some snowboard bindings in the boat.

put 12 hours on my gt harley mud viper and heat was not a problem but keeping the electric clutch was making a FNR gearbox and will see what happens has power out the a$$ and never had any problem starting.

if you think about it, on a good harley style motor, say an aftermarket S&S 113cu engine, ($4k) you can get almost 1 hp per cu in, and 1 ft lb of torque per cubic inch. it'll turn 8k rpm + or 5-6 all day long. but you can get the torque at 3-4k rpm, thats perfect for these mm setups. But I can see how the clutch won't hold up. May just have to go with a dry plate clutch, primo style, like a belt drive primary has. As it has been proven, it can be done. On the heat issue, you could always add an electric cooling fan to suplement air cooling.

as for liability, you can't fix stupid, there is always going to be dumbasses that can hurt themselves on a feather.
