Dude I use a grease gun on a daily basis and have problems with them all the time. I'm about to buy a battery operated one so I can stop pumping them |

You just have to get used to the idea that its a mess waiting to happen. With all the modern technology we have today the grease gun is an stone age tool......... |

My biggest gripe is the mess, I can always air free them with no problems. If I get within 3 feet of a grease gun I'm going to get some grease on me somewhere. |

hold it upside down and knock it straight down on something solid a few times, gets the air out,or grease up to the tube....you will take paint off whatever you tappin it on. they always tell me it always helps to be smarter than the equip.you are tryin' to operate. |

They are all cheap chinese made crap. Only decent one I have found is Lincoln. Cajun Outlaw's advice would take care of the rest. |

first thing is when you run out of grease, quit pumping. also try unscrewing the tube a couple of turns as above. next, unscrew hose from gun, put finger over open end and pump, will pick right up. the worst thing about a grease gun is the cheap as$ grease that turns to liquid in the heat and runs out like oil. |

I've learned first to get the old tube out is to draw back the handle/plunger and let it snap back in and 99% of the time it will side out enough to grab it with out getting your hands dirty. Second after drawing back and locking the plunger, slide in a new tube remove the tubes pull tab, Then screw on the top a couple turns ( just enough so that it won't fly off) then release the plunger and then tighten the top down the rest of the way. This forces the air out as you tighten down with the weight of 20 elephants!!! No Shit!!!... And you'll be good ta go and won't miss a stoke! |
