Are the high dollar jig saws worth the extra dime or can a guy expect to get several years of light use out of the cheaper models? Around here the Milwaukee and DeWalt are in the $160.00 range. Black & Decker and Skil models are in the $60-$70 range. I'll be back tomorrow. |

i use a b&d all the time for wood alum. steel . I cut everything with it only thing is keep alot of blades. Good sharp new blade means more than kind of saw you buy. |

I've got a Bosh that's freakin awesome. Before I bought a plasma, I used it to cut all the 1/8 treadplate for a Ranch Hand style bumper. I've also ran it through lots of aluminum. The saw is great! Got it at a pawn shop for $60. New it runs around $160. It uses a self locking blade/clamp arrangement that makes it nice since you don't have to run all over the shop looking for a allen wrench. |

Ditto Arkie's comments on the Bosch. I used to work for Bosch Power Tools and still have one of their jigsaws. They originally borrowed the design of a sewing machine (decades ago) and they literally run as smooth as one. Very durable, too. The bayonnet blade system Arkie refers to is convenient and the lack of hole in the top of the blade helps them not break as easy where they mount into the saw. If you have the dough, do yourself a favor and buy a Bosch. |

I'd be useing it mostly to cut thin metal and wood. I would like the scrolling feature if it's not just a gimmick. So far it looks like I best be looking for a Bosch. I'm headed to town after work this evening hoping to pick one up then. Anybody else want to chime in. |
