Post Home Made Mallard Machine
Well Im attempting to build my own mallard machine. I got the body to a old trolling motor built the decoy bracket out of some thicker tin. I used 60 yards of plastic coated 10ga threaded wire. As far as the control module to turn the machine on and off I used the actual handle from my transom mount troliing motot I removed the reverse wires and stuck just with the high speed wire. It elliminated running 3 wires back to the boat. I sodered all the connections then went over that with some marine silicone and finally shink tubed it together. Hopefully the 2 connections bellow the water are sealed now. I will post pics of it hopfully later today. Early testing in the garge shows everything is working. All in all it only costed about 30 bucks and that was all in the wire. I had some tin laying around and the trolling motor has been in my garage for 10 years, finally getiing used. If anyone else has some good ideas or a better way feel free to comment. Always looking to improve.

I use a foot switch for a troll motor.

We made a few back in the day. Go by a TM repair shop and you can pick up used motors fairly cheap. We ran ours out and used a foot button back at the boat. The individual bilge pump duck butts are easier to set out. No running wire all around. However they do put out alot of motion if you need that much. Nothing else can touch it.

My power source is the deep cycle in my boat. Thats the only downside to the whole rig it is kinda heavy. It is deffinelty not somthing you want to lug in on your back. The other big thing I found is you have to use at least 4 big ducks to make the trolling motor stay off the bottom and also the decoys dont sit then like they are already getting pullen under water.

Last year we zip tied a old trolling motor to a long pole an pounded it into the mud with only the controls above the water. This worked very well for us on calm days and eliminated the use of decoys to float the motor. Alot easier an effective.
