alright so I have a 18x54 extreme series gtb with a 35 gtr stock and I am wondering why I can't get speeds like i hear about is it that the extreme series is a slower hull but better for turning I am asking this because the first time i took her out I had my wife and myself in the boat tank of gas and normal stuff and hit 26.3 which is the fastest i have got her to go and since then putting a few more hours on it it seems to have slowed down about I thought with the break in it would pick up some. This tuesday I ran it by myself with about 4 gal of gas trolling motor and battery and fishing gear and could not get over 25.2 . I am not looking to be a speed deamond just wondering if this sounds correct give me your imput thanks

wow, is it a new motor, measure your prop, also placement of weight in the boat plays a big factor

You might be hearing some vibration from the stock carb air filter set up, mine did this, put a mikuni on it last week and all the noise went away, first hand proof that's what it was. also make sure your plate where the key switch is is really tight.

add a few mph to your top speed, thats what a lot of em do,just flat out lie.it "seems' like you goin that fast any way.
i ran with a fellow a while back, his boat supposedly ran 32-33 mph.i never seen 30 with mine, the funny thing is that i steady walked away on top end and my hole shot was faster too.he had 2 people in the boat but i think i weigh more than both of them put together.

wooduck,

remember you had hit some rocks or something whenver you came meet us at the camp......it took a little off of your prop didnt it? that may be the cause. may be time to hit up GT for that prop.

Stock, my rig ran 28 empty.. bumped 30 with a wind and current..... With myself and Joe M in caddo we ran about 26.5 WFO with an icechest and gear for the ride. Modded is a diff ball game.. I can run 30 MPH all day and 28-29 with a big ass load..

3850 and 26 sounds abotu right. Just play with your trim and see whats what.. if you trim too high you lose speed if your too low you lose speed.

the prop has minor abrasions on the tips from the rocks ima try grinding the rough spots down and see if it helps and jordy i did get my prop about the trim deal i can feel the sweet spot and believe it or not it is when the trim bottoms out in the up position and the gps shows it as well

x2, and if you do take a grinder to it, you better balance it before you put it back on.

Don't grind your prop.
What hole is your pin in? You may want to try movin it up to a higher hole.

Try running a new prop. My original prop had slight wear but really made a difference. I'm running less rpms but faster speeds with my new prop. Just something to think about.
