LOL

What will happen, is the motor will not run correctly due to the water being forced further up than that of a flat bottom would do. These motors are designed to run a certain amount of inches off of transom. A tunnel will make the water wash up to early.

Gator Trax --- used to offer one with MB motor...

But I agree with what J said - and with less floatation area it would
draft more water than a standard bottom... Plus tunnels flat kill
any potential reverse performance - if you like that sorta thing....

Read more threads about tunnels getting closed than I can count...

lol....thanks j....i figured it was a no no but he already has a hull with an ob and it is set up PERFECT for what he does cuz hes disabled (amputated leg)......but i told him id double check my thought so i did and i was right......so guess ill get to be a boat builder again this weekend lol.......and j......had an idear the other day about a keel on a skiff....if id take and make a 1/2" tal x 2" wide x 2 ft chanell in a hull and seal it up with a lip to where i can make a removeable keel...to where the keel will just slide into the channel....for running threw lillies and hydrila......how thick should the edges on the bottom of the channel be??...i will have a tab hangin off the back and the keel will stick out flush with the tab and have a hole to where i can lock it in.......that way we can remove it in shallow water and throw it in the botom of the boat

Post subject:  Re: transom tunnel????

I have a Gator Trax Hyper Tunnel with a 35 MB Sport Drive; the lowerend is short with a very short shaft 27" i think. It does good in skinny water and sloppy mud, but if i get stuck in mud with a hard "crust" and a false bottom I cant dig my self out because the shaft isnt long enough to dig.
Also another downfall of the tunnel is if im on step wide open in deep water going into a hard left turn my prop will hit the outside of the tunnel wash, loose momentum, and inturn put me into a slide instead of cutting. To aviod this I have to trim down so that i can turn. I have been told by buddies that my boat does better in skinny water than others because the tunnel is always pushing water to the prop. Just my .02 on the tunnel with a mm. They have their advantages and dis advantages. I think if i got a longer shaft i wouldnt have as much of a problem with getting unstuck. :D
