Post Re: crawfish prices
econemy isn't being hit as hard yet down here, crawfish prices are comming down.

last week it was 60$ a sack from a couple differant fishermen.

ought to go to 40$ or less in a couple weeks.

i have no idea what the price is at the plant, i don't buy from them unless i have to as i beleive they are just bunch of moneymaking middlemen.

after easter weekend the bottom will fall out and the price will get real low.

Last week the fisherman were getting like 1.25 or 1.35 a pound if I remember correctly.

I would REALLY like to get a couple bags of fresh crawfish sent to IL. My family came from Oakdale LA and I remember my grandad boiling those tastey little bastards at his cabin at Toledo Bend lake. I'd be happy to trade someone for a bag of deeeeelicious asian carp?!? Any legal way to get em?

I was gettin' $1.50/lb. when I came to work last week but I been gettin $.25 more for da past 8 wks. because we catchin sum real nice stuff. Dat means most are gettin' paid $1.25/lb. right now.... so y'all can expect to pay anywhere from $1.50~$1.75 from a local market if you don't have a fisherman to buy from.... and good luck finding a fisherman willing to screw his buyer over to sell just a sack or 2 to you at these kinda prices.

Post Re: crawfish prices
those are beginning prices..... da farther u live from da beginning da more dey gonna cost u. Every time dey change hands da price goes up. By da time dey get far, far away like Dallas.... a lot of middle people have made der $$$ on y'all.

Da rain last week will help some areas, some it will not. Da area I'm fishing right now benefits a lot from rains like dat, especially a big rain around Cen. La.... but we need da water from way up north to make it down here for things to really get rollin. It's comin, shouldn't be long before prices start fallin.

Russ, in a few more weeks I'll be ready to make a haul and come catch sum sac-a-lait and get effed up like da back of a *****'s slippa.....

Stump or basinhunter...do you guys think you'll still be getting decent size the middle-to late may? My folks, who are retired and know their way around south louisiana, are willing to meet someone and buy a couple of sacks and then bring them up to my ass...for Memorial day weekend-ish.

prolly so if we still have water then... I'm usually windin' down around da end of May, but have been known to fish through most of June. It all depends on what da rivers do.... check with me when it gets closer.

Hey Ben ask Warren if he would be interested in hauling a boat motor home sometime in the near future. I spoke to DA last night and he said he would get the motor to whoever when I buy one. Tell Warren I'll load him up with some spoonbill fillets for his efforts. Also gonna need three or four sacks from you in the near future too.

I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem... he would just need sum advance notice so he could drive his truck to work instead of his car. I could tighten him up with sum crawfish too while I'm givin him urs so it'll be worth his while.

If your needing water its a coming. We are near 27' this morning and expecting 3" of rain in the next few days. My nets are at the limit and may have to pull up and reset once the river settles in. I am just upriver from Cairo. Resetting gill nets kinda sucks when the water is hammering.

Ben Thanks!
