i was hunting this afternoon w/ my 6 yr old son, and we were the only ones i know of on the lake, when 2 hrs after we got setup 2 older men put their boat in the water and went and anchored 30 yrds in front of my decoys. i spoke up and said "i know this is public land but come on guys we r tryin to hunt here" they replied if u dont like it move, we r gonna fish here... needless to say that ruined my hunting for the day this was at 3pm they stayed till 430, i had 3dz dekes out and the boat brushed in. i didnt have time to move. then when loading my boat they pulled up and asked if i had a problem. (found out they had been drinkin) so i pumped my 12 guage and said "not as big of the one your gonna have, if u dont get on your way" maybe i was wrong, but i was pissed off.. im usually very easy goin, and i didnt even have a shell in my gun, but they didnt know that

Well considering you had your 6 year old son with you. Its probably a good thing you didnt get into a huge fight. But also good you were prepared to stomp some a$$ to protect him.

There is a law in almost every state that prevents that. Next time call the cops or the DNR. Its called the hunter harrassment law and it pretty much says that another person can't do anything to alter the path or behavior of wildlife wether they are standing there or parking something by your stand or whatever.

Just my .02 but i think you done well. Had a very similar situation happen to me last yr,but they were behind my blind and they were hunting also with no cover on there boat. Fortunatly after realizing they cost me some birds they quietly left. 2 yrs ago i had 10 doz decs out and 2 flappers and had a guy pull up and start bass fishing in my spread. My padnah and i watched him for bout 10 minutes then my padnuh raised up and let 2 shots go above that guys head. Needless to say the rod and real went flying and that dude hauled a$$. Guess our blind was just brushed that good...but come on!?!? :lol:

thats good stuff, my neighbor happens to be the game warden and he told me to give him a call next time, he would take care of them, hunter harrasment law is real, but the boating and drinking would keep them out of there for the rest of duck season, 90 days no liscence should do the trick. he said i done the right thing all things considering.

For real though, sounds like you did the right thing. Next time call the GW and see if you can get them to help you out. Public hunting sux!

First off ~ I wouldn't never showed mines gun without a shell at the ready .... ifin' you git that far with a situation .... mean it !!!

Second off ~ Ifin' I gots a youth with me .... I'm gonna avoid confrontations as much as I can 'cause you really just don't know where it mite lead.

Thirdley off ~ Next time it happens .... it can happen to anyone huntin' public .... Just lay low and enjoy yore hunt best you can ..... It's just a DuckByrd and thay (the fellers crowdin' you) probly ain't gots much since and thay ain't really no need to git yore preasure up and gittin' upset over somebody thats that stoopid.

Fourthly off ~ Ifin' thays persist and show up another time .... call the GW and let him take care of it .......

You would love Lake Guntersville then. Home of the ignorant @$$ wanna be professional bass fisherman. Happens all the time. Had some guys trolling up to my spread and told them we were hunting. They said tough chit. I then proceeded to cut donuts around their boat and told them I was looking for a duck I shot. They left right quick like.

Im going to trying this next time that happens haha.

We just get real annoying when they start that crap of setting up 35 yards away on you like throwing stuff at them shooting at the mile high birds to flair them one time my buddy went and took a dump right behind them while hunting.

Blow your duck call like a trumpet or if you carry a goose call blow that because its louder while you're cutting the donuts. Their peaceful and tranquil morning of trying to catch fish quickly turns into white caps and amateur band practice. haha

i run a jet and just ordered a mb hd 35 cdi, maybe this will fix this problem. although they were in a 10-12' flatbottom with a 5hp outboard motor.
