Hey guys, im new to the site hunting out of southwest florida. Home lake is okeechobee but frequently hunt other south central lakes along with some saltwater in the Tampa bay area when the tides are good enough. Plan on going out scouting on Okeechobee this weekend and will definetley be there for opening day, hoping the colder weather we have finally been getting will push the birds down. Didnt get out for early teel unfortunately but started out last season with a limit, hoping for the same result this year! Anybody have some info or input on hunting the big O or any of the STA's in the area? Been hunting the same couple spots for a while with fairly good bird turnout but always looking for more.

Well man I hope the season down there is good to you.
And beings you are new to this site I will let you in on a little secret if you post anything that makes you look stupid they will pick on you because most people on here know a good bit about duck hunting and their boats
Kind of like your name and in your post "teel" is actualy teal

I wish you luck, but the way you're going about finding new spots is,...well, it's just lazy. If ya need some new spots, get off ya butt & go scout for em. Again, good luck, but if ya wanna kill ducks consistantly, ya gotta put in the time to find em & follow em on your own.

I feel ya guys im not to worried about being bullied on a forum but as I read through more posts I see that theres alot of talk related to alot of other things than boats, hunting and fishing. I'm by no means trying to steal anybody's spots or jump on some free tips just looking for some mud guys in my area who might be getting ready for the season like me, going scouting all weekend. Mud guys are some what of a minority down here in south florida where the airboats are king, which is why I'm looking for some mud boaters to talk to.

Louisianasportsman the seasons allready on for yall up there correct? getting any birds? any effect from the oil spill or are you not that far south down the river? Went for a late season hunt/fish trip to Venice LA last season and was met with some pretty heavy fog and mostly shy birds, but still killed a few and had fun hauling in the bull reds.

Good luck guys and thanks for the info

Our season opens up Saturday good reports of birds all around here and I am far enough to the west that the oil did not affect us much at all

I live about 10 minutes from lake Okeechobee and I was out last weekend didnt see any birds yet but the cold weather will be working its way down and so will the birds. As far as the frogs holy crap!! How big and how many do you want , there taking the place over. Some time the ducks find you ,one of my friends was hauling a$$ around the end of a sawgrass patch on his airboat when a green head flew into his side and bruised a couple of ribs. After almost falling off his boat he picked up his bird and went home

Haha thats some shit frogger! Rarely do we see green heads down here, that is some luck (or bad luck for the duck). Ive heard the frogs have been going wild, need to break out the gigs and the lights and get out there. I hope the cold we got last night and today will last through the weekend, cant wait to get out again.

How has the hunting on Lake O been so far? I'm going to be heading up there to a few spots I have in the Southern part on Wednesday. Have a buddy that hunted there during the opening this past weekend and shot his limit Saturday and Sunday with teal so I'm hoping to do the same.

They are there- Some areas are getting a little shot out though. Other areas are still hot. Good luck!

It's amazing how an area can get shot out in 3 days. Saturday I had 4 flocks come into my decoys and got my limit. Sunday 1 flock. Today, all passing shots. Tomorrow, all gone.
