Post subject:  buying a new gun help

im looking at buying a new shotgun, i have held the benelli sbe 2, vinchi, extremma 2, and the browning maxus. all four of these feel pretty good to me, i do alot of dove hunting, sporting clays, so i will be shooting 2 3/4 8 shot, as well as my duck loads 3" 2 shot, and two times per year i will hunt geese, and sandhill cranes using 3 1/2 bbb. what are your imputs on these guns, do any of them jam with smaller loads through them, any advise would help.

thanks

i have the extrema 2 and i wouldnt trade it for any other gun. it fit me perfect and swings really well. i havent had one jam YET even with light loads. ive shot the maxus but it just didnt fit me that well. have friends that shoot the sbe 2 and they love it so i dont think u can go wrong with any of those, just get the one that fits you best

I shoot both the Extrema 2 and the Browning Maxus!I think the Extrema 2 is the best gun out of all of them! The Maxus is a sweet and light gun but it does kick a little more ;)

Bought the Vinci this year and its a sweet lil gun. Dosent shoot 3 1/2 though. Looked at the Maxxus and liked it alot too. Check out all of them and see which one your more comfortable with and go with that one.

Those guns you mentioned represent the top of the line in waterfowl shotguns so you really can't go wrong with either of them. Now I have an Xtrema 2 and this is my third season with it and wouldn't trade if for anything. Mine has the Kick Off and the recoil is very light with almost no muzzle flip so I can stay on the birds consistently. It also has never jammed in the almost 2000+ rounds I've put through it.

My cousin who hunts with me has a SBE 2 that he likes a lot. I think it does swing a bit better than my gun but the kick is a lot more than the X2. So much so that I find myself bringing the barrel down to get on the birds again the times that we have switched guns. Now I'm not sensitive to recoil at all but to me, a shotgun is very different from a rifle. You can shoot a hard kicking rifle accurately because 99% of the time you'll only fire it once. With a shotgun, most of the time you'll have multiple targets to shoot at and you'll have to do it in a few seconds so recoil reduction does play a big role here. So I can pretty much assure you that out of all of those shotguns, the X2 with the kick off will probably kick the least and be one of the most reliable.

Bought a Benelli M1 in '97 and have not looked back. The fit and pointability of this gun just suits me right. This is a 3'' gun though. Save your money that you would spend on a 3 1/2'' gun and buy a case of hevi-shot or a similar round. Still have never found the need for a 3 1/2'' gun even for the big geese around here.

Hope this helps
