Anybody know where I can get a slab of hardwood 40" x 96" x 2-3"?

Friend is wanting to build a dining room table out of a single piece of hardwood. Black walnut or something like that. I told him it would probably be hard to find something that size and if he did it would be $$$$$.

Got numbers for the Hardwood Barn in Mt Enterprise and gonna give him Chuck Phillips name in Dekalb.

Any other leads appreciated ;)

I just cut down 6 walnut trees by my place. I was going to use the wood to build calls from, but it really wasn't figured at all, so I gave a lot of it away for fire wood. I have a few more that I may take out. I live in Michigan, so shipping would be a concern I guess. I also just took out 3 maples about 42"-48" dia. I'm using it for firewood also. Let me know I may be able to hook you up. Where are you from?

I am in East Texas. The guy that wants the wood is looking for something local, he has found some but the shipping is gonna eat him up. Don't know if he would want a tree trunk shipped

Really just trying to get him some contacts with some local small/ mom and pop sawmills. I will let you know if he is interested.

Thanks
Brian

Do not do 1 piece. It will warp and or shrinkage crack. I know that for a fact. Join the pieces properly and it will last forever.

I would find a solid log that you want, then hire someone with a woodmizer portable sawmill and have then cut ut up. We have built many cabins and houses doing it that way.

You might call Jay Durham at Rockin D sawmill in Kirbyville. He may have something or can hook you up somewhere else.

There is that portable sawmill place between Mt. Enterprise and Nac on 259. I think they are a distributor for the portable sawmills called Log Master. They also cut lumber too. May could look them up. There is also a sawmill in Mt Enterprise just south of the flashing light. They have lots of exotic wood for sale.
