It ain't bullsht, they gonna hook you up and see what your body is doing when it's supposed to be sleeping. Got a brother in law and a friend that both had sleep apnea. They did the study, got fixed up, and feel way better now. They both said they didn't know how unrested they were until they got their apnea taken care of.

Don't feel bad Bubba, my wife has it, I know she does. I watch her quit breathing sometimes for 10-15 seconds, scares the sht out of me and she gets mad when I shake her to see if she's ok. I can't get her to do a sleep test either.

And sometimes you don't even need a machine. Got another friend, all she has to wear is a mouthpeice, like football players wear. No machine.

call the company and ask what docs in your area have a device. does the full sleep study but you can sleep in your own bed and its a hell of a lot cheaper. get it done.

Bubba..
I had one done in Lafayette. I went in about 8 or so, and they hooked me up to some monitors. The crazy thing is,,, not only do you have chit stuck to your head, but there are cameras around you, watching you.

Post Re: sleep study
How often do you dream? You are proabably never getting into REM sleep.

Usually, REM sleep occurs 90 minutes after sleep onset. The first period of REM typically lasts 10 minutes, with each recurring REM stage lengthening, and the final one may last up to an hour. Polysomnograms show brainwave patterns in REM to be similar to that recorded during wakefulness. In people without sleep disorders, heart rate and respiration speed up and become erratic during REM sleep. During this stage the eyes move rapidly in different directions.

Intense dreaming occurs during REM sleep as a result of heightened brain activity, but paralysis occurs simultaneously in the major voluntary muscle groups. REM is a mixture of encephalic (brain) states of excitement and muscular immobility. For this reason, it is sometimes called paradoxical sleep.

The percentage of REM sleep is highest during infancy and early childhood. During adolescence and young adulthood, the percentage of REM sleep declines. Infants can spend up to 50% of their sleep in the REM stage of sleep, whereas adults spend only about 20% in REM.

How Much Sleep Do You Need?
The amount of sleep a person needs depends on the individual. The need for sleep depends on various factors, one of which is age. Infants usually require about 16-18 hours of sleep per day, while teenagers need about 9 hours per day on average. Most adults need about 7-8 hours of sleep per day.

The amount of sleep a person needs also increases if he or she has been deprived of sleep. People do not seem to adapt to getting less sleep than they need.

T-bubba did you get a chance to contact watermark? If your freaked out about going to the sleep lab then i would highly suggest using that device. It does the full sleep study for you and you get to sleep in your own bed. And it wont cost your ass nearly as much money. Def need to get that issue taken care of. major risks of congestive heart failure, stroke, diabetes, etc from sleep apnea. I have slept with the device and it isn't bad at all.

I looked on their site and took the little test to see if I am at risk and I am.

My doctor had already set up a appointment for me to go to the sleep lab. I am going on 2/14. The girl that I spoke to said that it should be around 350 dollors and that my insurance will cover the rest.
