You are welcome. Can't wait to get it in and slap it on.

I noticed on my electronic invoice I was order # 70. If that means I was #70 for brackets, I guess that is good for you, and hope the orders keep pouring in.

What does the bracket do? I just had a mikuni put on

Post subject:  Re: Mukuni bracket installed

put it this way Coe no more carb falling off if yours ever has, it holds the carb on tight, it bolts right into the intake and carb

I've never had my carb just "fall off" that would suck! How do I get one to Keith so he can slap it on? Justin I'll call you.

im guessing it keeps it from falling off. i assume the carbs are held on by the boot? the motorcycle world has a boot on both sides to support the carb and its wedged in there. looking at the install on a mm its just hanging on on one side. is this correct?

Author:  autogateman [ Wed Mar 02, 2011 9:06 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Mukuni bracket installed

partially correct. motorcycles have a bracket that secures the carb to the block (IN HARLEYS CASE), on mm's only the hose clamp holds it on. they fall off pretty easy, and these carbs have a good bit of weight to them. they are not designed to be supported only on one side

Post subject:  Re: Mukuni bracket installed

I haven't had mine fall off yet, but plenty of others on the site have. This Fall I made up a stop bracket using the stock carb support brackets to do just that, stop it or act as a bumper guard.

But I believe autogateman's design is MUCH better. For a $650-700 Mikuni carb, another $36 is a small investment for that much more peace of mind.

I went frogging this past Saturday nite, and in all my year's of frgoggin' the water is as low as it has ever been. I was bumping cypress knees and logs all night long. I can't get mine on soon enough.

Something I have to ask-

When your mikuni is falling off, with all that linkage and sht holding it on as it unbolts itself, it still keeps running until it has broken completely free and is water bound?

Don't make no dam sense if you think about it, as finicky as a motor is about fuel and air, that a carb half hanging on would even keep the motor running.

Post subject:  Re: Mukuni bracket installed

when the carb comes off the motor shuts DOWN!

Post subject:  Re: Mukuni bracket installed

when it comes off its off and there is no fuel going to the engine, it comes out of the boot. It happens fast

I need one of those things LOL

Post subject:  Re: Mukuni bracket installed

DMD- I haven't had it happen to me, but its pretty much as you describe.

A solid impact on the lower unit can cause the boot between the carb and the intake to come out of the carb. At that point the motor will shut down and the carb will be hanging by the linkage- if you are lucky. I haven't heard from anyone posting here that their carb actually went into the drink and was submerged underwater, but the new support bracket would keep any and all of that from happening.

Obviously the environment we are running mudmotors in is alot different than a Mikuni on a motorcycle. I just don't want to be fumbling around with a carb at dark thirty if I can help it.

Somehow Saturday nite a completely whole and fresh plastic garbage bag found its way wrapped into my prop. THe bag was so wrapped, twisted and embedded in the prop that it took me 30 minutes to cut, untwist and get it out. I'd just rather not be phuckin with stuff if I can prevent it in any way.

Post subject:  Re: Mukuni bracket installed

Read my install on the other thread, When tis bracket is installed no more even thiniking about the carb coming off.

This past weekend i hit something in the water and Terry (DDM) was right behind me and my carb flew off, the carb will most likely never come completely off like get wet because you have a vaccum hose, fuel hose, throttle linkage holding it on but it does stall you for just a little while, the bracket that Auto is putting out solves all these problems.

Get you one its a good price for something that cost 700 going into the water or even chancing it

Post subject:  Re: Mukuni bracket installed

Well, if Justin can install it in only 20-30 mins, it shouldn't take more than 10-15 mins for the normal person to install. Nah, seriously tho, this is a good product, guys.

Coe, get yours to us ASAP, I'm tearing yours down in the a.m.
