Heard this for the first time the other day.

What do you call a Jack ???....meaning if you saw a duck and said it was a jack, what kind of duck is it actually called ???

Meaning I head a duck called a jack and I was thinking WTF ???

not to confuse things further for you, but I've heard cajuns call cackler geese "ringnecks" as well.

Also need to add to your dictionary:

dos gris = grey backs = blue bills = scaup
poule d'eau = water hen = coot

Ringbill makes a lot more sense. You've got to be about 5" away from a Ringer to see the line on his neck. Be like calling a mallard a "slightly purple irridescent head" instead of greenhead.
