 Catapla Worms
About when do they come out in Louisiana?
We have a couple trees and I have never thought to remember what month they come out.

 Re: Catapla Worms
anytime now. somtimes you get multiple crops ina summer. just ordered some seeds to grow a bunch of trees this morning. I hear the underground market on these things are through the roof! I used to have five trees in the back yard but they all died over the years. used to love fishing with these things. Best catfish bait on the market!

I have seen some falling already. Last week saw some on the lower amite river. They have a bait shop not far from my house that sells them

 Re: Catapla Worms
My Buddy's bait shop sells them year round....
He tells me you can freeze them and they will revive months later...
Don't know - but maybe that is the trick to selling them year round and live....

 Re: Catapla Worms
Yea you can freeze them! It's actually a pretty cool process. They never go more than a few yards from the tree they just burrow in the ground for hibernation. We pull them from the tree right before they hybernation and put them in sawdust after the go into "hibernation" we put them in syrup and freeze them as long as you use them within ab a year they usually come back to life.

 Re: Catapla Worms
We used to freeze them in ziplock bags. Never worried if they were gonna come back to life.
