Have to agree, got the gas one for the big jobs such as the camp wash'n, but dont laugh, got one of them little electric one's too. That little one is the ticket for four wheelers and such, does a whole lot better than just the hose pipe but dont take all the stickers off.

 Re: Preasure Warshers ......
Go with nothing smaller than a 6.5 hp with a CAT or General pump. You should be at about 2800 psi with that. Anything smaller you will kick your own ass especially, when washin the driveway. I got the CAT and I don't know first hand but word is you don't need any feed pressure for it to work.

 Re: Preasure Warshers ......
I'm sure there are pumps up there with the two I mentioned but make sure they are triplex pumps not axial cam. The life expectancy of a triplex pump is far greater than an axial cam pump. I know the triplex can be rebuilt fairly easily, while the axial would probably just be shit-canned since they are probably not worth the money to fix.

we have a Karcher 220 unit at work that has chemical resivoir and a deisel powered heater. It's a bad mofo. The chemical and heat will take the white off rice.

 Re: Preasure Warshers ......
Ditto the triplex vs. axial pump argument. The pressure washer business is an assembly business. There are not too many makers of the pumps themselves and of the accessories (guns, tips) that go on washers. It doesn't really matter the brand of washer that you buy. The secret is making sure that whatever you buy has been put together with the best components. Usually that means Honda engine and General or Cat pump, plus a good quality unloader valve on a cart that will not rust into oblivion or fall apart.
Now here is the secret of cleaning energy, or impact force: Pressure, measured in PSI, factors into the equation, but so does the flow of water through the pump, measured in GPM, or gallons per minute. In fact, GPM is exactly twice as important as PSI in contributing to cleaning energy.
If you wanted to double the measurable impact force of any given pressure washer and you went to do it by increasing the GPM, you would get it done by doubling the GPM. If you wanted to do it by increasing PSI and you left the GPM the same, you would have to QUADRUPLE the PSI.
Give me a 2000 PSI washer with a 4 GPM flowrate any day over a 3500 PSI, 2 GPM washer! Selecting your washer specs should be relative to the kind off things you want to do. For washing down equipment, you don't need that much cleaning energy. For blasting flaking paint from a rafter overhang two storys up on a building, you need power.
Hope this helps.

 Re: Preasure Warshers ......
Pressure washing is most effective if you bring three factors into play: Cleaning energy (discussed in last post) Cleaning chemicals, i.e., soap Hot water
Hot water pressure washers are out of most people's budget, but everyone who buys a washer should get one with a good chemical injector. You put a chemical injector tip on your washer, turning it into a glorified Hudson Sprayer, apply chemical, wait, put your high pressure tip back on and rinse. Works much better than not using soap.
Don't buy a washer without a chemical injector.
