 Re: mud truck??
If your putting an International in there may want to get a matched T-case & tranny & do a complete swap. Just make sure the drop on the t case is on the same side that the front pumpkin is on (passanger, driver or center)
Or just swap out the entire drive line sounds like a 6' tire would put the strain on those stock axles lol

 Re: mud truck??
Dropping a 5.9 Cummings in it is way cheaper. Just don't use a Dodge tranny or tcase. Destroke it.com has a full list of options might check it out. Check out pirate 4x4 theirs a couple of similar build threads

 Re: mud truck??
Bootzz slow down a lil bit. If you want to get into the Big MUD trucks, COntact Dustin Meche and Wesley Bellard at Ballin on a Budget Motorsports. THey in Carencro. They can get you in the right direction. And BTW get ready to drop some cash.. The bigger the toy the more they cost.

 Re: mud truck??
It is a Cummins, NOT a Cummings. Even if you use Rockwells, you will want the 5 tons not the 2.5 tons.

 Re: mud truck??
lo maxis i know wesley.....i knew jacob better..dont know wesley to well tho...but i kne the d-max before it was THE D-MAX.....and as far as t-cases and all that ive got that ...i's gots an idea!! lol..and guys im using it as a mud truck the 6.0 sucks so y pay for a good motor when i can get a cheaper truck with a blown one lol and the wreck ant bad...it was hit square in the front and busted the radiator causin the motor to over heat and lock up...frame is only bent an inch off on the passenger side....just the fenders and cosmetics look bad....cab is perfectly fine tho.....and i talked to my uncle today...he builds drag racin ford for basicaly a livin....talked to a friend of his thats real big into diesel power and i have a motor ligned up with about 1400hp at the crank stock...comes out of an old pete and runs like a clock....as far as my axles im not sure on what size but leaning towards 5 tons...i want something that wont break...or catch fire like wesley and them did lol...the tranny im loking at is an 8 speed with high and lo gearing...now...my t-case???....ive looked at a few options of course it will be a drop down and proly weigh 500# but im thinkin bout goin talk to all them boys that are cane farmers and start robin parts off some tractors for my t-case and parts of my drive train. i was told the motor oout of that pete was used in alot of cane tractors so ima look for a nice heavy duty t-case there...then last but def not least my fav part wil be my stacks...my uncle owns ed's custom muffler in new iberia and he said i can take and run some 10"stacks all day on that motor and not lose power....now the only part im still un easy on which i might just have to hit up the old team shocker boys about is my 4x4 in the fron with steering...thats whats kind of got me on it but i think them boys can help me....so today i spent my day doing alot of homework and have come to a conclusion it wil take an a$$ load of time to build because of the money but in the end it will roll!! I just cant wait til i can finish it then repaint it my super duper muddin color!!....thanks for the input though guys!!

 Re: mud truck??
the 5 tons will be cheaper than the 2 1/2 tons. there is not as much demand for them. as for tthe 6.0 it would make a good motor if you fix it. it is already mounted and ready to run. its a 2wd? if so thats good. you can get a devorced m37 transfer case and drop it down some for the drive line angles or build a single speed full time chain driven case. they are not that hard to build and they are strong. look at a monster truck. thats what they use. the latter case would be the best. if you use coils up front and the leaf springs out back there wont be as much fab as you may think. it will go together much faster it you dont start changing alot of stuff.
get the truck. find a good 6.0 and do the fixes. get your axles and build control arms for the front and mount the rear end. build the transfer case and mount it.
that should be the major build. lots of little stuff to do also but not too bad.
