Why Deisel has been so much more expensive than gas for the past few years and now all of a sudden gasoline higher than deisel again?

govament f'n with us cause they can. they even made up all kinda excuses bout how much harder it was to make the new "cleaner" diesel and we fell for it. GOOOSH!

1st reason is government puts environmental restrictions that must be met by the refineries both on the end product and the process in which the product is made. This cost the refineries money to meet theese environmental standards. And this cost is passed on to the consumer.
2nd reason is supply and demand. Not a lot of people bought diesels who didn't need them over the last few years b/c of fuel cost.

I may not have choosen my words correctly in my last post. It was not intended to bash anyone our their opinions. I was just trying to state that I think our govrnment is allready too big and too powerful.

The gas futures/ speculation is what caused the $4 gal last year. I'm no expert in trading by any means but one of the main problems is that the way it is traded is basically gambling. It was in the traders interest to drive it up because that's how they were buying. They are basically betting it will go to say 85/barrel. If it does, they sell and make the difference from when they "bought". They don't have to take possession of the product and from what little I understand, they don't even have to have the money to "buy" the oil they are "buying". I'm sure someone on here can 'splain it better than that, but that's my understanding of it which may be wrong.

hell no im not in favor of the government regulation something like that, they already have their hand in it b/c half of them a oil men(meaning they own property with oil on it) i my not have stated it to clear on it... look its pennies on the dollar for oil refineries to process oil. there's no reason we should be paying that much for gas, i'm sorry. like mudgun said, opec and gas futures are the ones that are driving the cost of our gas up, they say that we need more production b/c of supply and demand; granted that may be true but consumer driving has dropped b/c people can't afford to drive and pay that much money for gas. so if the demand is down then why in the hell are our prices going up????

craig i understand that exxon on makes about 3% in overall but when you give your CEO a retirement stipend of 400 million there is something drastically wrong there; almost like some bank ceo and eron crap..... i just stating an opinion thats all no hard feeling trust me. i just think that its bullsheet and that middle class america once again has to get hit the hardest.

if that pisses you off, the DO NOT look at the financials of Microsoft... their profits as a percentage of sales are insane!

Here's my take on it.
Fuk OPEC. We just freed Iraq from a tyrant. We get the oil. We buy it all at a contract rate. The money is paid to the Iraqi people as a war dividend. Basically, they get a check in the mail every month from the oil sales. They have money and can create their own economy and become much more western. The rest of the OPEC countries are now irrelevant to us. They can sell their oil to the Chinese.
We keep our domestic reserves for when we've drained Iraq dry. We change the way oil is sold to make it more like coal. Buyers must take possession or at least have means to do so. They must also have the cash. No more of this shuck and jive trading to make money long and short.
More domestic refineries.
Fuk wind, go nuclear. If the wussy ass French can handle it, we can too.
Diesel in cars and light trucks. Fuk these goofy ass looking minn-kota cars running around (which apparently come factory equipped with "Change" or "Obama" stickers).

Its bad when one month your plant makes 30 million then the next month they tell us that they are loosing on the margins and if there are any upsets they are going to shut it down until the margins are in thier favor

All we need to do is cut the capitol gains tax to incourage buisness to come back to the US , build several new refineries(because the ones we have are already maxed out) , and open drilling. This will cut down on unemployment , increase exports , and cut down on imports. But NNOOOOOOO this is too easy of a solution for our government to grasp.

I saw an F-350 Powerstroke that had a diesel tank in the back for a loader except that tank fed directly to the 7.3 The guy kept about 5 gallons in each dual tank. Seemed like a lot of trouble. DOT pulled his tanks twice and never caught it.
