Birdman studios does swan mounts for 675.00. Now the shipping back and forth will add to the cost as well.

A swan is on my waterfowl bucket list

We have to purchase a ticket to be entered into a drawing for a single swan per season, per hunter. Either one of my sons and/or I have received a permit for the last three years.

It is a fantastic spectacle to see them sail in and then watch one crash into the spread when harvested. It makes the dog absolutely insane!

Swans taste better than canada geese, IMHO. The good thing about swan hunting is also the bad thing about swan eating. You always want to shoot the biggest whitest bird in the flock (he looks great in a photo!). Unfortunately, he is the toughest sob to eat and can only be prepared in the crock pot. If you have the discipline to harvest the young smaller grayish birds, and pass on those big white "B-52s", they are not as tough and can be marinated, grilled rare and enjoyed like other waterfowl.

If you get your season, just buy four decoys and one box of Hevi-shot dead coyote (10 will last a while). Down here they stay in small family groups and they like to decoy. The DC assures a high probability of a quick humane harvest and a bird that isn't too shot up for a nice photo.

I have bagged a swan. I looked at hundreds for neck collars and leg bands before cracking a big whitey.

We have killed them in North Dakota if we get a permit. They are really big, and don't taste all that good so we usually grind the meat and add it to the sausage bucket.

Never mounted one.

Everyone's bucket list is different, but I'd recommend moving it to the back of the list.
