Future bro-inlaw wants a new job, he is an electrician and has industrial license. HE needs a steady paycheck with benefits. Tired of the odd job stuff and the home building/wiring dried up almost a year ago.

Where would he start looking ?

sorry if this is a dumb ?

Mud,

i would suspect that a man with a liscense could find work in the oil patch pretty easy right now., assuming that he has a fairly clean background, a strong back, and is willing to travel.

I have posted a link rigzone, which is a good place to start. My company (transocean) and several others are building some rather large drillships in S Korea right now, some other companies are building semi-subs in Singapore also.

Look for
Transocean
Pride International
Stena
Noble
Ensco
Sea Drill
Maersk
and so on.

Hope it helps

If you are willing to work over the oceans you can find work in the patch almost any time. The shelf and land drilling pretty much shut down. I know at the start of last month the rig report showed over 50% less rigs than last year on land and the shelf. If you are looking for a local ( I mean something that you don't have to move for) job, ther are few openings. If you don't mind staying in New Orleans Mon-Fri Louisiana Natural Gas Services out of Lafayette are hireing. They have a big contract in NO and just signed one in Covington. They lay gas lines.
