Here is an engineering problem I had in class today. Think hard.

You are in a room in a 4 story building. In the room there are 3 flat panel light switches that are wired to incandescent light bulbs in another room that you can not see. Once you leave the room you can not get back in. There are no windows in your room either. You can not have anyone help you either. How do you know what switch works what light in the other room?


BTW there is an answer to this.

before leaving the room you cannot come back in, eliminate the two not applicable.

pull the pin and crotch the grenade....I'd rather eat a grenade w/ my sack than try to figure that one out

switch #1 to light #1, switch #2 to light #2, switch #3 to light #3

leave one switch off, turn one switch on for 5 minutes and turn the last one on then immediately go in the other room answer:hottest lit light 5 minutes switch, coolest lit light last switch and the light not lit the off switch

FOrkin engineers, but they still cant figure out that you cant fit a 1/4" bolt in a 1/4" hole! haha
