Post Diesel Programmers
Just picked me up an 03 Duramax, the truck is bone stock and not really looking to get high hp/torque numbers out of it but more on the gas mileage. Ive heard a good intake and exhaust (gutting cat) will help on fuel mileage. But what about programmers? Figured buncha ya guys have diesels and could give some input. Which ones should i stay away from.
Also what kind of Mileage you guys getting?? My truck as is gets 14/19 as of now

Turbo, I have an 06 ford diesel that gets about 15 mpg. I don't havve a programmer either. Check out the Jeg's website, they have bunches of them, and most say that they increase mpg.

Edge is by far the best economical chip. It adds about 8 mpg on the highway.

Add some 4" exhaust. That ought to flow enough for you.

I had a 06 duramax and ran a quadzilla stealth 2. I was getting 20-22 pg on the 90hp setting. It would also haul ass and blow black smoke all over rice burners. Their customer service was great also.

You'll need a set of gauges too to look after your egts and boost. I ran the quadzilla commander digital set and loved it.

Buy from this guy...his name is tyler

www.myerperformance.com

just give him a call and he will hook you up with great pricing....also eventually get you a 5" turboback exhaust.

Also...dont buy edge products....they still havent worked out all the bugs. Also they do not actually reprogram the trucks pcm...They are a run through device which sometimes causes problems....pm me if you have any questions.

I am running a PPE Programer. ( http://www.pacificp.com/ ) With 33" tires I get about 20 on the highway if I keep it under 75 (Yea like I do that often LOL)

The PPE IMHO is the best programmer out there for the Dmax.

Check out http://www.dieselplace.com. They have the best information for the Dmax out there.

I also ran 14.20 in the 1/4 with the 225 hp setting.

Be wary of the bullydog programmers for the Dmax. They have torn up lots of transmissions.

Feel free to call me if ya want man. Ill PM ya my number.

Corey, I have a Bully dog system on my Cummins and it get around 20 on the highway. I got 17.3 pulling my skiff to Morgan City last weekend. The guys i got mine from were Diesel Innovations. They should be a good source of info on what you are trying to accomplish and which product would be best.

Well keep us posted...if you do get caught...please take a video of you telling the EPA to kiss your ass when they hand over a fine worth twice as much as your truck 8-)

Personally....I don't care what you do....I jut find it amazing someone will risk gettin "thrown under the jail" for 3 mpg

If it weren't so risky I'd do it myself (08 Cummins 6.7)...this'll be the last diesel I own...been a good run since 97 but they are killin the light duty trucks

I run a quadzilla adrenalin on my 2000 dodge. I now get over 20mpg. But I also run injectors, intake, mod turbo and full 4inch exhaust.
