is it true that if you cook on the stoves that run off of 20oz bottles in the winter they freeze up and you can't cook? would it be better to get the stoves that cook with the coleman fuel or dual fuel or that use the propane cans?

When gasses are compressed they create heat. When gasses expand they get cooler. Therefore when you use propane the remaining propane in the bottle has more room to expand resulting in cooler temperatures.

We use them in -20 deg F all the time with no problems. Run the heaters and the stove. They get a little frosty but thye always work.

If I am lazy I run the buddy heaters (plural) and the Coleman Guide Series stove off those little disposable bottles. If I have had time, I run them off a bulk tank with splitter and multiple hoses. I have a couple of smaller bulk tanks and it is nice not having to dink with the disposables.
