This is my first year doing a garden this big. It's going to be 15 25' rows. Growing corn, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, bell peppers, jalapeƱos, and purple hull peas. Probably going to plant a some herbs (not "the herb") too. Pretty excited about this undertaking. Any of you guys had luck with any other vegetables?

My grandpa always said you can't have a garden without okra. I planted some last year and realized fast that I need to plant about 3 times as much because its awesome pickled.

I see you got a fence so you should be good to plant some watermelons and not worry about the ninjas robbing your garden.

Thought about watermelons, but my neighbor tried to grow some last year and they didn't produce worth a shit. Ain't too worried about tar babies.... Don't have any within 15 miles of me or so... Shit it might be fun to bait em in and sit on the back porch pickin em off when they hop the fence!

We grow most of ours in containers or raised beds. We have onions, lettuce, peas, asparagus, strawberry's and potato's already planted. We will plant peppers, tomato's, okra, and corn later after the frost. ;)

Shaf don't for get the tomato's. Gotta have some pico. Shaf and Silver my wife has the raised beds too. She can sure grow the veggies. About every two years I put the hole drill on the back of the tractor and drill holes in the raised beds. Then I drop catfish carcasses down the holes until about two thirds full and then cover and pack. She will plant directly on top and boy does the garden go to town with the catfish fertilizer.

I know our gardens are different however our goal each year is to have tomatoes by July 4 th. You La/Tx guys will have tomatoes in no time. That melon trick seems like a winner. I will inform the wife. She is a master gardener through Purdue Univ. She is all over her garden.

10 years of plowing and harvesting sweet corn, feed corn, hay, beans cured me of ever wanting to do it voluntarily.
