My podna just got a 24ft Shearwater with an F300. Problems below. 1. Porpoises bad at cruise,,,has to run tab down! Engine tucked wont cure it!! 2. Fold seats down on leaning post, and they hit the Gelcoat on the fiberglass where the folding seats go down, already had 4 huge chunks missing. 3. Top speed is 47-48mph with an F300!!! I would think he should be 50+, maybe 55mph... 4. His l.e.d. lighting is falling out, screws stripped. All the hatch gaskets are coming unglued. Boat was ordered, after playing with props on mines, i told him to make sure if you paying that much, they at least put the right prop. Well they sent it with a 21tempest plus. He said it blows out really bad, porpoises and only does 47-48 mph at 5500 rpm. His slip is crazy. He called the dealer, and they are offering no help. Told him it ran 50mph when they tested it, that was before trolling motor and 3 batteries and low fuel. So that sounds right, but it seem slow. Most guys run that with a 250hp. Cajun tole him that the prop they put on all of them. Any input? |

1. Get a new dealer who gives a fuck 2. Check the motor mounting height at speed. Does he have a jackplate? 3. Tempest is a bow lifting prop. If the boat wants to run bow high anyway, the tempest could be causing the porpoising. You just went through all this on your's didn't you? I believe I'd get in touch with Shearwater directly about all this crap. |

Yeah, that seems slow. I would try different brands of props, maybe even a 19. I have a yam300 and I just put a rebuilt 21, but it performs like a 19. I have a 23 i put on and it too big but its better than a 19. everybody I know that has rode in a shearwater was not impressed. Where are y'all located? I have a 19 he could try. Most people i know with a yam300 have a 21. |

I have a 22 blazer bay pro with a 250. I have bumped 62 with 1/4 tank and light load. I fish with a guy that has a 24 shearwater with a 300 and he cant hang with my blazer. He had issues with the prop also and switched to the same power tech I have on mine. OFX3 it was designed for bay boats. they let you play with them. Order the prop if it is the wrong pitch or you want to try something else you ship it back to them and they will send you another one. Most dealer will just swap it for you. I run a 20 pitch. I think he has a 21 or 22. http://www.ptprop.com/index.php?page=sh ... &Itemid=46 |

For the amount of money for the boats you guys have talked about, there shouldn' be any issues especially on a brand new boat. Personally i would pull it back to them or have a rep come ride with you for the amount of money they are selling these boats for they should figure your problem out not you. 60-65 is flying in a shearwater and they are heavy boats so if anyone has gotten one up that fast, thats impressive |

If the boat/motor showed up at the dealer with a expensive prop, they may have swapped it with a less expensive prop....sad, but some have done that. |

TChauvin, contact Josh at Full Throttle Boat works and see what he recommends for the porpuising, he is a good guy and will help out as much he can with the prop issue. Other than that i would tell your podna to put it in Shearwaters hands and leave it at that. If they can't fix the rproblem then i'd be asking for another boat |

Josh is a Turbo OT-4 dealer as well as other props but he leans heavily on the Turbo props, I started with a 25pitch and he worked with me by sending props to try till we got it right. Ended up with a 28 P which was a good all around running/fishing prop, hardly any slippage and alot of mid range pull. I had a 30P cleaver that i bolted on if someone wanted to play lol I ran a 300X mercury with 1.62 gearcase and offshore midsection with a Sportmaster fat shaft lower unit. BOat didn't mess around, was the fastest center console in this area. Made it from From the Intracoastal bridge to Glaveston in a very short amount of time, ran 85mph the hole way lol |
