Just an observation but I would be scared to be left in the dark with all the modded motors going down lately.

These engines are used for a vast variety of applications from Generator units on oil rigs like coondik put his logo on, to propulsion engines on ships, Offshore supply vessels, to harbor tugs, and trains. Oh and coondik come work wit me for a day and we will see about the oiler shit!!!

Everything is made in Chicago, IL at the EMD factory. And everything on these blocks are made of plate steel that can be cut with a torch and welded to fix like brand new...Unlike a cast iron block..

I'm sorry, let me be more specific.

Out of the 165 or so boats that we operate there are 5 or 6 six that have emds. :D And they are on boats that are 20 plus years old. None of our newer boats have them.

All the boats (with the exception of a couple) built since 1995 have caterpillar's in them.
