 GPS Maps
I have a handheld Garmin and was looking for maps. Only set i found on Garmin website are the Bluesport G2 for $160. Any of you guys use something different or cheaper. I just want it to show waterways not all the other fancy shit. Right now it doesnt even show the wax pass on the map. I usually used iphone but when you lose service its useless.

 Re: GPS Maps
With my Garmin, I can download Google earth maps and overlay them into the GPS. Works great on the Mississippi. I currently have about 30 miles of river on my GPS. Its just like looking at it on the GPS on your phone.

 Re: GPS Maps
We use mapsource at work and it is 99% accurate. Every once in a while there might be a wellhead location canal that doesn't show up. Other than that its been impressive for the marsh.

 Re: GPS Maps
I am thinking about a handheld GPS.
What do you all recommend? I would like multi use if that is possible. And to be able to be seen in the bright sun with sunglasses on like with the depth finder. I cannot see my Iphone in the sun and polarized sun glasses. Mostly it is the sun.

 Re: GPS Maps
I use the Garmin topo map. Crazy detail for the everglades and lake O in Florida. Got it on my hand held and duck boat.
Take your handheld to Bass or west marine and tell them you want to try the chip out. Or ask them to insert it in the demo units. Zoom in/out in your area and see it for yourself.
Best of luck !

 Re: GPS Maps
You can download topo maps for free from here. http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/144/I haven't tried LA but Arkansas one is pretty good.
