MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
OK, I have looked at the talk and low blows about the sport V from mud buddy. I just want to ask all of you who have so much negative to say is why? Give me an example of what happened and why you hate them so much. If I'm not mistaken many other companies in the world have had product issues. They have done recalls, yes, and other manufacturers sent replacement parts to solve the issue at hand. Just depends on the situation for each company.
I have been burned before so I understand the hate some of you might have. I just want to know why you hate a motor that is so new and most of you have never even owned or driven personally. My true feeling about this is.. they have come up with a great concept, it needs fine tuning before I buy one. Yes, I'm going to probably get one after season or summer 2014. I sure as hell will make sure to let all of you know the pros and cons to the motor.
If you are just a die hard GTR / PR guy, you're just like a football fan... you're never wrong and I'm never right. I'm not looking to start S**T, I just want answers is all. So, if you want to bash me, PM me. I just want true info here.
I understand personal preference; if that is your answer, that's all I need.
Thanks

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
im a die hard gtr fan...but ill be honest first off i think cast is junk dont know what they were thinking on the whole handle part... the trailering system for the motors is a joke their customer service is so hit or miss and you hear a ton of horror stories and ive had buddies burned by mud buddy, not something i want to be a part of they came up with a pretty good concept with some flaws, rather than test it out..they started putting release dates out and taking deposits promising people a motor before hunting season..a deadline which they soon found out they couldnt meet..all the while before even truly testing these motors out they sent them out there have already been accidents with handles breaking and crashing boats, im honestly surprised a lawsuit hasnt headed their way already my opinion is why go with them on their new reverse motors when you can get a pd or a gtr, both have outstanding customer service and both have truly been tested and have all their kinks worked out..why chance it with a new style motor and not always dependable customer service..again just my opinion

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
It's not the motor itself, It is the company that produces them. They make promises that they can't keep. They went as far as to taking deposits and not delivering until sometimes a year past the date they were promised. They have had some problems with the company standing behind their work. You can find good service for mudbuddy but its from mudbuddy dealers and not the company from Utah. Look up excel boats and read about them on here an the horror story people had to deal with. Those 2 companies are owned by the same person

Do we have the power to move it? Didn't think so. Might as well answer the mans question before he buys something he will regret

Mud motor from Utah...WTF do they know about that. We eat mud for breakfast here in Louisiana.

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
G l e n n is the reason I dislike mudbuddy....have you ever been led on and on only to find each and everything told to you was a lie? I wont do business with that pos. As for the sport motors..... they are a new design that dosent make anything better.....they remade the mousetrap into a crappier mousetrap.....they cant build them the way that motor needs to be built because no one could afford it so they made it cheap and cheap breaks in my marsh and obviously a lot of others....im done talking fools out of making mistakes....if everyone would buy a sport motor I might have the marsh to myself. So gitcha one.
Ps....I dont think 6 months is enough time for their customers to finish the r & d work for mudbuddy. Id give it at least another 2 years.

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
And if thats not enough ill PM you three separate business owners who used to do business with them and ended the business relationship for all the reasons listed above. Three very reputable businesses in this market. Hell...theres a fella here that used to do work for them and left because he wouldnt adapt to the MB way of taking shortcuts, believed in doing quality work and ultimately left the company because of their practices. Go TOS and just spend hours researching....there are threads in there from 2006-07 that reflect all the issues above! That was 7 years ago! They havent done shit to fix it or make progress. MB doesnt give two shits about you or your motor....just getting your money and blowing smoke up your ass that leads to false perceptions only to be let down.

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
Ok so defiantly some bad situations have gone on with people and MB. I will say its a good concept and a quality machine is what i would like to have. So i understand all of you about staying away from MB if you want quality & service. So with that said do you all hate Excel boats just as much?
Before this motor came out i wanted a 17x54 extreme GT boat with a 35 GTR. I might be going back to that thought. I will defiantly be talking and testing out both before i buy.
Thank you all for giving me a proper response that i was looking for. I appreciate your thoughts and understand why you all push people away from MB

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
If your gonna fork out the cash, go custom builder and get it exactly like you want it laid out....if you go with the sport motor, you could prolly join the class action suit that is inevitable..... but seriously, if you want a reliable motor that performs go gtr or pd..... both make a great product with great service. Good luck in your endeavor.

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
There's no reason why..... These people are just prejudice....the bad customer service is all made up....the broken motors were all photoshop and vicous rumors.....excell boats are really the best there is. Its easy to see that most here simply don't like m u d b u d d y.....which really is the best out there. Think about how much smarter people from utah are than dummies from loweeseeanuh..
If I was u, just to show the whole bunch of haters here.....go get u a new excell, with a shiny sport h on the back, and then go ahead and marry yourself a big fat black woman.SHOW THESE MOFOS WATS UP!

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
If you buy one I would talk to Andy or Hank at BoatDR and buy from them seeing you are from Louisiana and deal directly with them I had a sport-v got a 35gtr for the reverse last year and I'am very pleased. When I had mine yes it was hard to get service from utah but they would get back with you later. Started ordering stuff through Andy would get it next day he and Hank know there sh!t when it comes to MB.

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
If it would be me I would go with a motor that suits my needs the most. I know before I bought my PD i test drove the GTR and PD on a few diffrent boats to see what setup was best for me and my conditions. That being said the PD and GTR are proven motors and the Mudbuddy sport motors are just not proven to hold up to all the shit that MM go through. MM get a lot of abuise from the conditions they run in I know if I was about to come off of my money I would want a proven motor that is reliable and a manufactur that has great customer service. Go out an test drive as many setups as you can before you jump into buying any type of motor. PM some of the guys on here that are close to your location an see if you can test drive there rigs to get a feel for whats out there. Good luck on your buy which ever MM you decide to go with.

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
Well as long as i get a boat with a motor that has reverse and goes forward and can handle shallow water and mud then i got what i wanted. When i priced them both out they were about 2k different not enough to swing my decision. And as for my wife yea she will be more expensive and well worth it at that. Also i can get MB & Excell & GT at dealer prices. I don't need a Hand out.

Re: MB Sport V - Give me a good reason why!
I seen your posts about the GTR rigs. There is PLENTY of information about why NOT to go with MB on this site. Hell, even MB has enough info on their own branding forum why NOT to go with MB.
Good luck bud

Apparently you're not very good at reading between the lines/recognizing sarcasm. Also, he's from Louisiana, so he wasn't talking down to you about your state of Louisiana. People here were trying to help you, but now you don't seem to want their input. If I'm wrong, I apologize. It's just that we've had a lot of people "stop by" this site with seemingly innocent questions, who turn out to be MB guys that think they can get the upper hand on us. We refer to these guys as trolls. They usually leave as quickly as they showed up.
