Post All-Terrain Tires
I have a 06 F-250 crewcab 4 x 4 and in need of some new tires. My question is should I go with the Firestone Destination A/T or Nitto Terra Grapplers? I would get a M/T but I can get by with the A/T and would also to get some decent miles out of them before I have to change them again.

Check out the Toyo Open Country A/T's. I have them on my Titan and I love them. I have the 10 plys on mine. Its an overkill tire for my truck, but they last a long time and will help you keep your load carrying capacity on the F-250. I'm running a 285/75/18. Its a 35 x 11. Great tire, and the narrow size helps with fuel mileage. Total cost was 1250 mounted, balanced ect. Just my opinion!

I know they are not all terrains but i just bought a set of 285/75/r17 toyo open country m/t for my dodge dually. I know how well these held up on my old 3/4 ton so i believe in their product. Ive heard nothing but good things about the open country a/ts. Id look into them.

Yeah, I have the BFG T/A on there now. I have 35k on them now and may be able to get another 10k if I'm lucky. My truck had been pulling to the right for about a week and yesterday I started to get a wobble in the steeringwheel. This morning as I was about a mile it started to get real bad. Got out the truck and the belts have shifted. It looked like I had a football in there. No more BFGs for me. Sorry hope you have better luck.
I can get 285-70-17 in the Destination or the Terra Grapplers for 800 mounted and balanced.

10-4. Damn must be nice to have dat dually to haul just 8 of dem bastards. Tell you what, I'm sure tha Dodge pulls great but, I got a 6.4 Powerstroke last year and it pulls a 24' loaded down like a raped ape. Had a 94 Dodge turbo before then. It's like night and day.

I have the Toyo Open Country MT and I got 35k out of the last set and I wasent nice to em. Made a few passes down the drag strip with me and a few nasty burn outs.

I probably could have gotten another 5 or 6k out of em but I got a deal I couldnt pass up on a new set.

Yeah they dont have any room to move. Usually when the back gate opens the last two fall out the back.  We only put 20 in it one time. They were first year mommas. Usually i only put around 14 or 15 in it.

Post Re: All-Terrain Tires
just went through this myself about 3 months ago. I looked at them all and talked to tons of people looked at tons of reviews. tires where i could find them etc, etc... i looked at the toyo open country a/t but I went with the goodyear wrangler silent armor A/T. they are a fairly aggressive tire and not loud and they run through water on the road like nothing and stay gripped. i have put them in the mud and was very impressed with them. they slung the shat out of some mud and stayed clean in the treads to keep biting. in the wet grass going up the levee they didn't even slip. i got them on an 07 4x4 tundra. they have kevlar in them to help with punchures in the sidewalls and on the middle too.

I would stay away from firestones, due to the fact that they have had more reports of tread separating like back in the day when the ford explorers were flipping from bad tires.

Nitto Terra grapplers from what I hear are a great tire. Way better than the Mud grapplers. I think Brice (GatorGuy) has them on his work truck, may want to talk to him about his personal experience with them.

Toyo Mt's are a great tire so I would expect the same from the At's I know of people consitently getting 40-45k out of Toyo MT's on Deisels so that kind of tells you something.

I personally run Mickey Thompson MTZ's on my Chevy 2500HD gasser. I ran them because I got a Smoking deal on them ans my buddy has been running them on his lifted powerstroke since I have know him. He purchased them with about 10k miles on them. Since he has put 45Kish on them. He might be able to squeeze a few more mile, but 55k is a good tread life too. On the other hand my buddy's dad has the Mickey Thompson ATZ on his F-350 and they are holding up well to a 36' Gooseneck with a jeep and a bronco hauling to Colorado and many other offroading trips.

So many options to choose from, but make a decision you will be happy with. All tires are high like giraffe pussy so get some you like!

Post Re: All-Terrain Tires
Ive owned 2 sets of Nittos on diesel trucks and they aren't worth a damn. First set was on a 2001 2500 Cummins and got 25k out of them. Next set was on a 2006 3500 Cummins and got 27K out of them. If you do much hauling I'd recommend the Toyos. They are great from what I've heard.

Ive also never heard anything good about the Nittos on heavy duty trucks. I have heard from several people that run them on 1500s that love them.

BTW these are the tires I'd recommend if you are running a dually  Im running a 255/70 R22.5 and love them. If you do alot of hauling these tires pay for themselves pretty quick.

Does anyone have any info on the new Goodyear Dura-tracs? The look like a very aggressive A/T. I'm currently deciding between those and the BFG A/T's which I have always had good luck with.

Have always had real good luck with good year mud terrains on the 3/4 ton dodge. I have pulled plenty with em. Just enough for the mud and not to much for the street. They usually last me bout a year but Im not peelin out around every corner either
