Post subject:  Locking copperhead on boat?

I have aquired a 12 hp copperhead, and unlike my long tail there is no way to lock it to the boat. ( like theft proof). I have a chain wrapped and locked around it now but do any of y'all have a better way of locking it to the boat. I wish it was like a normal outboard with the holes in the mounting handles for a lock.

If someone is willing to take the time unbolt the motor from your boat I doubt a lock is going to stop someone that wants to steal it.

Bolt cutters cut through locks like butter.

No mounting handles, just 9/16 hex head mounting studs. 2 of them, I wouldn't be so concerned if it was a true bolt on transom style where you would need more than a ratchet and socket. I guess I'll stick to the chain for now, didn't know if anybody had a trick to locking it on. I know bolt cutters will cut , I'm just trying to deter somebody who doesn't have bolt cutters in there back pocket. I think I figured out a way but I'll have to drill a 5/8 hole through the transom and somewhere in the motor mount that sits against the transom.

Does it not have the angle welded to the frame? There should be one on each side. If so that is where you drill the hole and put you a bolt through the transom.

Thx cmiller. that's what I had decided to do. My idea is to buy a 5/8 hitch pin lock the one that has a lock on one end so it has to have a key to be taken off or a torch lol.. I'm gonna try it when I get home. I know it seems silly but there's a lot of theft around here and I'd rather be safe than sorry.
