I have my FFL license and sell alot of AR's and Colt's and Bushmasters and DPMS and Rock River are selling more of a name but the guns are all the same as far as quality but those are the ones that hold value. I like the Smith and Wesson and Spikes Tactical myself for the money. If you are just looking for an AR that is cheap try the Olympic or double star the quality on them are just as good but a lot less money or get a kit and build one it is more fun and even a little cheaper. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you more on this.

I also have my FFL and build custom rifles. I highly recommend Rock River Arms. They give better accuracy 1" at 100 for the m4 style and 3/4" out of the varmint. The heavy varmint with my handloads would shoot .5" five shot groups at 100 and serval times 3" five shot groups at 500 meters. I won 4 comps shooting at 200 and 300 yards Against some other bolt guns.

Exactly so dont worry about all the .5" group at yadada that everyone gets stuck on. Reliability is what counts on a battle weapon!

Thats why I got a pump shot gun and a bunch a buckshot, you dont have to aim very well and it will reach out and touch something.

spikes tactical is a great gun and they had some sales a few weeks ago.

I have 1 colt, 1 Bushmaster, 3 CMMG's and 2 DPMS AR's and I love them all! I think the AR is the most valuable, The CMMG's are the best bang for your buck, the bushy is the most fun (M4 style) and believe it or not, the DPMS's are the most accurate. (20 stainless super heavy barrel)

I know that CMMG is having a "Bargain Bin" sale right now for 599 for a "used" AR.. I ordered my CMMG's from these guys and they are outstanding. I paid the extra 30 bucks or whatever and they didnt have a mark on them ANYWHERE!

You can thank me later (or now,, whatever works)

I'm thinking about ordering a few more at that price. Just cant pass it up.

I got a stag lower wit a rock river upper. As long as it's mil spec they're all about the same. If I recall correctly there is only 4 manufacturers for the lowers. They're sub contracted and have different names stamped on them. I also have essential Arms and double star lowers

Rock river or dpms will be cheaper in the long run and they come with more features than colt or bushmaster for the money.

Think about going 308 instead of 223. I have a bushmaster and Springfield so com in 308., and a colt clone in 223. I shoot the 308 just as fast, I just have to reload after 20, you can't hide behind most cars or hollow block walls from my 308.
I won't need 40 to get through.

223's don't stop that well if you use a hard bullet that will penetrate, they stop well with soft points but won't shoot through shit. 308 you get 20 to a mag with 223 up to 40.

get a 1 X dot type of sight and back up fixed sights. don't get a magnifier for the sight get night vision instead. I like the flat tops and match triggers, back up night sights a must.

I had a match grade 223 with a eotec during Katrina, my batteries were dead and no back up sights I won't ever get caught like that again.

I have both the DPMS and the Rock River. As for accuracy, the Rock River is heads above with the Wilson chrome lined barrel. I also have Eotechs on both, and I highly recommend those sights. I am not a weekend plinker, I have to rely on these weapons for my job. With that in mind, both are sighted in with flip up rear and front sights in case the Eotech fails. As with all things mechanical, you should never rely totally on these, but the reliability of the Eotech is awesome. They have been battle tested and found to be dependable

As JD mentioned I would look at buying or building a AR in a 308. They really lay down some firepower and make nice accurate deer rifles too. Randy

I am getting ready to sell my RR and build my own with Sabre Defence out of TN. I agree that too many get way too dependant on mechanical sights. I ALWAYS sight in the iron sights, then sight in the Eotech. Ya never know when the batteries will give up the ghost, but generally they die when you LEAST want them too
A guy on the team with me has an AR10, that is one bad momma

i've got several and would say stick with a good brand (several named on here) and stick with a flat top for optics, regardless if you want a tactical or heavy long barrel.
